Expert Series ATR Throttle Setup

Has anyone managed to setup a throttle without a dedicated reverse detent yet, if so how do you use the reversers? I have an X55 throttle but I don’t want to use part if it’s travel for reversers as with no detent returning it to idle on landing is difficult. I normally use toggle reverse axis but apparently that does not work on this aircraft. There must be a lot of people out there in the same situation as me?

Nope, i’m in the same situation as you are in.

I’ve got an old Logitech G940 set here, and i usually hold a button for reversers too, then slide the throttle forwards to control the amount of reverse thrust, which works for any aircraft in my ever growing collection… except for the ATR.
(and some wiseguy mentioned this “simulated” behaviour is also present in the CRJ and the Phoenix… which i dont intend to have any century soon)

There was also a suggestion to put plastic inserts on the bottom of the throttle travel somehow, but i dont see me modifying my hardware having anything to do with gnarly software choices that makes users bend over backwards instead of giving options to ALL players out there with whichever controller and controlsettings they are using. It’s funny how the people with notched controllers had to jump through a few controller hoops to get it working succesfully, but on this one, there’s a silly deadzone option for those that have no notches. I’m just guessing those with TCA quadrants are happy, those with Bravo’s less happy and those with anything else, not happy at all with the design decision of the ATR’s throttle usage.

I wonder if fsuipc gets round it somehow? I had it for FSX but haven’t bought it for this SIM so far.

Ok here’s how I have solved it Set the EFB to no throttle and assign a button to ‘Decrease Throttle’ in MSFS controls. When you hold it I reversers will engage and the aircraft moves backwards. Let go and it will revert to idle, you might have to very slightly move the throttle forward. If idle is set right at the start to of the throttle movement you may not. I have set a slider button to decrease throttle command which repeats the command until it slides back.

Hope this helps

This is exactly what I figured out last night… I had a button mapped on the back of my throttle to toggle reverse thrust which worked on the a320… but I had to clear that binding and map decrease throttle to that button. Works great now on landing I idle back and hold the button and the reversers kick in. I think it would be button H on the X-55 by default… just hold it as long as you want reversers.
