Explained PFD Boeing 777 PMDG

Good day everyone,

On the right side from the PFD there are (near the blue rectangle) a small vertical white line and down there also a white line. During the flight the color changed and before approach they are gone.

Maybe someone knows where the lines stand for?

Not sure what cues you are asking about, but wondering if you are asking after the VNAV cue that shows when one is above or below the descent profile? It might not be displayed once an ILS glide slope is intercepted on an ILS approach? Just a wild guess while not in the sim at the moment.

Vertical Navigation Performance Scales. The following is an excerpt from the FCOM.

Navigation performance scales and pointers present a real-time display of the location of the LNAV and VNAV path relative to the airplane. The airplane position is represented by the center index (or tic mark) on the scale and the LNAV or VNAV path by a magenta pointer (triangle).

The deviation scales are proportional to RNP (required navigation performance). The deviation represented by the distance from the center index to the outer index is equal to the RNP value in the FMC. If RNP is equal to 1 NM, then the distance between the center index and outer index represents 1 NM.

The ANP (actual navigation performance) bars are anchored to the outer index, or tic marks, and vary in length depending on the precision of the navigation system, When GPS updating is available, the ANP value is small and the bars are short. When GPS updating is not available, position uncertainty increases and the ANP bars grow toward the center of the scale. The gap between the ANP bars represents the area where the magenta pointer can be and the airplane still remain within the RNP for that part of the route.

If the deviation pointer moves into an ANP bar for 5 continuous seconds, the ANP bars and scale turn amber and the pointer flashes for 10 seconds. When ANP equals or exceeds RNP, the ANP bars touch at the center of the scale. The ANP bars then turn amber, the deviation pointer flashes for 10 seconds, and the NAV UNABLE RNP EICAS message is displayed.

The Verticle RNP value is displayed on the FMC RNP Progress Page 4/4, and can display the default value, or can be overridden by a pilot selected value.

Also the Lateral NPS as they operate similarly.
