While I see new items being added to my Library, I still don’t understand what is happening. I see various Streamed items from MSFS 2024 (Deluxe to Aviator Upgrade), Streamed items from MSFS 2020 (Premium Upgrade), many NOT AVAILABLE - DISABLED for MSFS 2020 items, numerous DISABLED from MSFS 2020, and finally a few INSTALLED from test items in my Community folder.
I understand the 2024 streamed items, but why are some 2020 items streamed in 2024? I think the Not Available/Disabled means these 2020 items do not work in 2024 and are disabled. Then, I have many 2020 aircraft and sceneries available (not unavailable) but disabled, which allows me to enable these add-ons.
In addition to my general confusion, my main question is, are the downloads for 2020 listed as Disabled ready to work in 2024 if I Enable them? Have they been verified as working in 2024? If I enable them, are they streamed or downloaded? Are updates for items in the library updated automatically, or are updates listed as available so we can download them as in 2020?
Finally, this is not a library question, but are all the updates for MSFS 2024 done automatically, or do we have to download them somewhere?

The whole UI within the MSFS 2024 file library is extremely confusing

Items you own from FS’20 are Streamed because that’s the only way to get them to you at the moment with Marketplace being down.
Ideally, when Marketplace is back up - you could download/install to disk certain FS’20 and FS’24 items locally rather than Streaming them.
Unless the vendor specifically stated to Microsoft (and the cutoff would have been just before/just after 19-November initially) that their FS’20 products were forward-compatible (meaning they work in FS’24, they just don’t have any of the new features like the walkaround, showing pilot/co-pilot/pax avatars etc)., they would be disabled by default because some products will cause a CTD and other disruptive effects to FS’24. An example of FS’20 product that is FS’24 ready and made the cutoff would be Raul Simbom (FSReborn) Sting S4 plane. If you bought it in FS’20, it would be automatically migrated to your “My Library” in FS’24 and appear as Enabled.
If you follow the large Carenado RG182 Missing thread, that’s an example of a complete line of vendor planes that are NOT FS24 ready - hence they’re all disabled. In fact, you could own some of his planes, and if you enabled them, other Carenado planes you owned would appear in that plane’s livery selection. I myself found my copy of the Carenado Skymaster inside the livery choice screen for the Carenado Mooney M20R. Not ready for FS’24.
And yet, I did my very first flight in the 182RG. I wonder if it’ll work like the Blacksquare Caravan to drop it from 2020 to 2024 Community.
I also found that there at least was the possibility to combine any livery on the Caravan with any model. Seems like that was a bug and is gone now. Quite confusing for me as well.
Carenado 2020 aircraft is only available on FS2020 Marketplace iirc. So dragging those files from FS2020 Official Packages folder includes encrypted ones that aren’t recognizable by FS2024 even if you drop them in Community. It will show up as Community-Disabled in My Library. I tested it:
If it does work, well, let’s not go there because that means it’s not a legitimate copy and that’s an entirely different path no one wants to walk down…
