If someone else could fact check this for me but I believe the option to turn off the HUD when in external view is gone with SU8.

I think they added it to the chase camera? Will have to check…
I did a search on HUD throughout all settings. Couldn’t find it.
Try the assists menu.

I checked there as well, nothing for HUD.
Found it! It is in Assistance Options → Instrument Heads Up Display → Minimal / Full.
Really liking the minimal option!

Really wish they’d add a keyboard shortcut for this. It’s exactly the kind of thing you might want to toggle on/off quickly depending on what you’re doing or the plane you’re flying, and having to dig through menus isn’t fun. I like a nice clean external view (less stress on my oled screen if nothing else) but still often enable the HUD if landing.

This seems so easy, and I see those options in the assistance menu, but … I still don’t have controls displaying in the external view camera.
Just wondering if we’re talking about the same thing? The sim calls this external camera (at least in the menus when flying), but then the option calls it chase cam.
Attached a couple pics to make sure.
There use to be a Num Lock keystroke which displayed the external hud on/off, but this disappeared in a recent update. MS decided that you/we no longer needed it, despite being very useful 
LOVING THE MINIMAL option as well - although I still prefer the more discrete font
(size and style) not so much the red at the top - but that kind of option for smaller font and on where to place the small but useful line of information. Still a wonderful improvement either way.
Do you still have the minimal hud in the external chase camera view? I have it set to minimal in the assistance settings, but i always get the full hud on all airplanes 
Who has the minimal hud in the external chase camera view? I dont have it, although i set it correct in the assistance settings… I only can get off or full. And minimal is always a full hud on all airplanes. What is wrong?
Do you use Shift+Z Stats addon ?
If yes, deactivate/delete it and minimal hud will be back.
It’s high time AmbitiousPilots update it, as I really love it’s functionalities.

I think the NumLock keystroke was in old versions of Shift+Z Stats addon, and been replaced by “<” and “>”.
Yes, i have this addon and i like it… But i will try it later and hope i can get the minimal hud in the external chase camera view back again. To toogle on/off with a key would also be nice.

O.K. the Shiftzstats plugin is really the problem. It put it out from my community folder and the minimal hud in the external chase camera view is back again 
I hope we can get an update from the dev…
