External storage question from a novice

I am nearly empty on my primary internal storage. I want to expand storage to just contain Community folder (leaving the “Official” folder in place) content and future add ons that are not from MSMarketplace. I hear AddOn Linker would facilitate such a content separation?

Utilizing a USB TypeC port, would an external SSD with 2000mbps read speed be sufficient to use? Specifically this external SSD: Amazon.com

I realize that initial loading of flights with content from the external SSD speeds may be slightly delayed but would reading at 2000mbps be fast enough to leave performance during flights unaffected?

Would be very grateful for advice from knowledgeable forum members.

Thank you kindly.

I use an external drive with a USB-C for the addons (not sure of the speed), but I have noticed zero problems with it.

MSFS Addons Linker together with a fast SSD is the way to go. Takes a bit of effort but worthwhile in the end - there’s a couple of good Utubes on how to set it up.

I’ve got almost 2TB of add-ons on a separate stick and have no speed problems whatsoever.
