Extra 300LT extreme roll sensitivity

Did the flight model change for this aircraft? It’s awful. Just a touch of the stick to the left or right sends the plane spinning. No other GA aircraft is anywhere this sensitive, so it’s not something with my controller. It flies like a paper airplane. Very hard to believe this is realistic.

Yes, sam here, unbelievable how they could get this so wrong, similar for the CAP10C

Hi.
Roll rate of actual real life extra 300 is 400°/sec, 180 for cap 10, and about 40 for dr400.
Differences are extreme, indeed.

golgoth, so are you saying it is correct in the game? I didn’t time the roll but it might be that fast. What bugs me the most though is how just a touch of the stick sends the plane rolling very fast. The max roll rate might be fine in the game, it’s the minimum roll rate that seems way off.

If the minimum roll rate is too high, you need to reduce the sensitivity.

Aerobatic aircraft usually are noticeable more sensitive than normal GA aircraft.

But that would affect the regular GA aircraft as well. I think the minimum roll rate needs to be adjusted on the 300LT. It just doesn’t feel right, especially when you look at the stick or ailerons that barely move, but the plane rolls as if you pulled on the stick a lot.

Compare the chord and span of the Extra (full span) ailerons with the usual small GA aircraft ailerons and it’s IMO obvious why the Extra is so sensitive, even at minimum stick deflection.

The MSFS Extra is still too sluggish to respond to control inputs and the roll rate is still too low as well.

There is a reason that the 300 isn’t used as a trainer.
What sensitivity setting are you at? Best control response for all aircraft is 0%.

Are you aware that the Xtra 300 is an aerobatic plane?
In the beginning of FS2020 I’ve found it ■■■■ hard to fly in terms of accurate 4/4 rolls but… now… it’s much easier to let the plane do what I want it to do.
I admit, it still isn’t the most forgiving bird in the skies but hey… If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I can fly it just fine. I just question the realism, especially how there’s little difference between the minimum and maximum roll speed.

Again, look at the percentage of the wing the ailerons are covering.

Even the tiniest amount of deflection changes the airfoil shape of the whole wing.

Furthermore the Extra is a very light aircraft.

OK, I just looked. Yes, the ailerons are covering more than half of the wing, which would support what you’re saying. But why is the Robin Cap10 that has a very similar structure a lot less sensitive? That one actually flies reasonably (except the rudder trim having no effect, a common bug on other planes as well).

FYI.
Lack of rudder trim is not a bug.
Very few light single engine aircraft have rudder or aileron trim.

The rudder trim is present on these planes in the game, but it has no effect. You can see the rudder move, but it has no effect on the plane’s behavior. That’s definitely a bug.

For me it looks like an flight model error, a fast roll tends to bring the aircraft off axis after a full turn, like the whole center of mass just snapped completely back into the tail section.
