Extreme tile popping in Northern Italy after WU18

Brief description of the issue:

After MSFS installed the small update regarding WU18, there’s a much evident tile popping in most of Northern Italy, especially in the area around Milan. I have not installed WU18, it’s just the MSFS update for the WU that caused the issue.

By any chance could you post a video of what you are experiencing ?
Just did a quick flight in that area and I have not experienced extreme tile popping.

It’s annoying and when you fly at both high and low altitudes let’s forget about it. Please resolve with a fix. By the way, I’m from Bergamo and I like flying over my beautiful city. We’ve had the problem since wu18 came out.
The image above is Lake Seo but the problem is all of northern Italy. Those coloring lines move.

E fastidioso e quando voli sia ad alta quota che bassa lasciamo perdere . Per favore risolvete con un fix . Tra altro io sono di bergamo e mi piace sorvolarci sopra la mia bella citta . Il problema ce lo da quando è uscito il wu18 .
Limmagine sopra ę il lago diseo ma il problema è tutto il nord italia . Si muovono quelle linee di colorazione .

I confirm. It appeared after WU18, even if you don’t have it installed (it occurs even after a fresh sim install). Greenish textures near you, brownish in the background. They change to green as you approach them. Very frustrating.

All taken in the triangle between LIPE, LIPX, and LIPZ airports. However the issue is there also in the western part of northern italy

Hopefully they release a fix this week. I hope they read this report, it’s very important and it’s a very annoying graphical bug.

Same for me. I never installed WU 18, but the issue popped up when that update came out. Please do something about it, because it’s extremly annoying.

Same for me, after WU came out, popping tile in north Italy (and south Alps) and greenesh textures…

This problem is back in the french Alps as well (Courchevel, Alpe d’Huez…)

This also happens in Switzerland (occurred twice to me while flying the new Swiss Bush Trip, which also crosses the Italian border).

Well, to be honest, it always existed in some parts of the world. Somehow the sim is not using the same set of ground textures for low and higher LODs and this is the result. They never got it completely out of the sim, just some regions were fixed but then it appeared in different regions. I doubt this will ever be solved and sadly pretty sure it will be there in MSFS2024 as well.

Good morning, I’m casting above the lado d’iseo you can see the problem of the ground textures. Around the scenery the contrast is darker than the scenery below. Yes something is broken the bug is evident. I doubt they will release a fix they are focusing on fs2024.

Wrong, before WU18, there was heavy tile popping around my hometown Berne. At least this is gone now…

No, no, sorry the huge popping tiles in nothern Italy is a new issue popped up when WU18 came out. Before it flying in Italy was wanderful.
I mentioned Switzerland believing it was a new bug (like north Italy) instead you tell me it’s as old as the one concerning the French Alps.

Got it, all I am saying is that it is due to how different LODs of aerials are used and if the lower LODs (further away from you) are based on an different set of aerials, you will get this visible tile popping. While if exact the same set of aerials is used (just with different LODs), you wont notice it. But it is still there, but rather visible as change of resolution. And it seems that depending on what kind of aerials are used in the highest LOD, you get it all over the world in always changing locations. Example Switzerland: obviously now after WU18, the aerials used close to you (highest LOD) are the same as used further away. While in Italy, they now might use the newer aerials close to you but furtfer away, it is still loading the older aerials resulting in the tile popping we see…

Hi, the thing that amazes me is that they haven’t noticed this graphical bug yet. By the way, usually when they publish new news on Thursday, they write it publicly. I think they ignored the bug. Because they don’t even know how to solve it. Boo.
