I have a 4070 Ti Super (with 16 GB of VRAM), 7900X3D and 32 GB (16x2) of 6000CL30 DDR5 RAM (I also have 48 GB of storage assigned to pagefile), running the simulator on Ultra with Texture Resolution set to Medium (so I can fly planes like the FBW A380X without running out of VRAM).
I am monitoring FPS and Memory usage with the inbuilt dev mode debug menu.
I also only have OMDB scenery, RJBB scenery and the FBW A380X + Liveries installed.
My overall performance in the new simulator is fantastic and drastically improved over FS20, as long as I’m not out of VRAM.
Spawning in at the PD OMDB scenery + FSTO OMDB Enhancement addon, my memory usage sits between 31.5-32.1 GB of RAM usage and it always goes over it’s retail budget of 31.7 GB of RAM. This is just at the stand, with the plane cold and dark. Very frequently my memory usage goes over it’s retail budget and my performance drops from 50-60 FPS to 10 until it miraculously uses less RAM and recovers, but even then my performance only goes up to a max of 40 FPS (I assume this is happening because Windows is offloading stuff from the RAM to the pagefile so it doesn’t crash).
Again, my simulator very frequently runs out of memory and my performance drops to the 5-15 FPS range until it recovers.
On long flights, as I approach my destination, my memory usage sits around 36.5 GB and peaks at about 38 GB of memory usage. I do not have a screenshot for this.
While this is happening, task manager reports FS24 using a maximum of 18 GB of RAM with only 85%~ of total RAM usage, so if FS24 is using upwards of 30 GB of RAM, then it has to be using SWAP (iirc tskmgr only reports physical RAM usage), contributing to the performance deficits.
The simulator seems to always use a minimum of 30 GB of RAM and I can never get it to go below. Is there some setting that needs to be changed? Or is there some terrible memory optimization + some sort of memory leak present? Hoping to get a fix for this.
