F-16 Viper (Block 70) by DeimoS Inc

Anger Anger Anger my brother from a different mother like no other. Why do you even bother with these things? A couple of clicks on the screenshots in the store page should tell you all about how much “world-not-allowed” the devs give about “flight” simulation. Over in the X-Plane ecosystem they got developers releasing study-level aircraft for free, and in return they politely ask you to donate a little bit of money to a charity. Find peace man, find peace

Nor should you think of MSFS as a game now. But every simulator can be a game if the user uses it as that. You can do the silliest things like landing a 747 at Lukla on whatever simulator you pull out of the hat, none excluded. This isn’t any different.

No need to look at the X-Plane ecosystem for that. We have some right here, and they popped up much faster than on other sims.

Experienced users will know that indeed, but newcomers may not, and they may certainly “trust” more a product sold on the official marketplace.

If only everyone across the board would adopt the same stance we’d be in great shape, but alas it won’t happen. The ‘see it, instant buy it, regret it, complain about it’ demographic will carry on, with poor quality addons and the dev’s who sell them devouring new victims along the way and serving repeat offenders who keep coming back for more.

I don’t entirely agree with this as the practice has been occurring and the door already open within the niche already. X-Plane has more than it’s fair share of poor quality addons including some right shockers that are no better than what is appearing in this sim.

Where I do think they went wrong is in what Jorg said in a Dev Q&A where he talked about Simmarket. I forget his words exactly but I can’t help think they (Asobo/MS) have seen that business model of pretty much sell anything, and green lit it for the marketplace. In an understandable move to offer 3rd party products and keep a nice little income stream coming in from commission, but they appear to have put any thoughts of even some rudimentary quality control to one side.

There’s good quality ‘casual’ and ‘fun’ aircraft to be had and then there’s your higher fidelity/level addons (Milviz FG-1D , Aerosoft CRJ etc) that both offer value for money and meet a good standard relavent to their target market, and then there’s the Bredok and Deimos quality stuff. I just find it bemusing that Microsoft and Asobo, whether thery see it or not, are promoting bad quality and poor value by allowing these things to be sold within the sim itself.

Still, if people won’t or don’t take due diligence and do their homework before parting with their money, that’s sadly up to them. I reckon I’ll be here in 5 years time repeating the same thing and that’s kind of sad to even think that.

To end my involvement in this discussion… what I was trying to get across is this. Not how people use the product, but how it is positioned in the marketplace. You do not sell a thousand dollar suit in Walmart. You put it in the stores where the target market shops.

Those of us who come from the old days can see that while our niche carried the product for decades, the new market is evident. The product has moved into the General distribution of the gamer market in a way we did not see 30 years ago.

This is not a judgement call. It is a marketing reality. My point was this, we can thus expect a different quality of addons entering the market. And we cannot get on our high horse to say it should not be.

My post was never about the divide between gamer and simmer in terms of judgement. It was about target markets, market penetration, and the results of it upon addon offerings.

Addon offerings aren’t any different in this sim compared to other sims, as others mentioned. Actually, high-quality add-on are coming much faster exactly due to that market penetration.

Previous simulators six months from release didn’t have anything even close to Aerosoft’s CRJ.

Previous sims also had plenty of shockingly bad add-ons. That also ins’t different.

The fundamental difference and the problem at hand is that this sim has an official marketplace, which being uncurated (but not explicitly so. I know Jorg as said it, but not everyone listens to online Q&As) may make bad quality add-ons erroneously look endorsed by the developers, tricking newcomers into believing they’re making a safe purchase.

Incidentally, I’ve been around since Flight Simulation by Psion. Flight Simulators were considered mass-market gaming products then as well, and most weren’t marketed any differently than other games.

It’s only in the past fifteen years or so that, due to developers that lacked (or didn’t want to invest) resources, simulators have been confined into a niche. There’s nothing to be nostalgic about in that.

Man… simmarket is just flooding the market with trash, what is this… jeez.. this is ever rivaling some of the worst payware aircraft in the xplane store

is microsoft putting this ■■■■ on the ingame store?! then they should be held liable for these scam products. if it’s only on external sources, it’s fine.

thanks for informing us about this “product”. i will avoid simmarket from now on.

Unfortunately, Simmarket is the only way to get some really good products, especially from small teams that don’t have connections at Microsoft or with bigger publishers like Orbx and Aerosoft. Having talked with smaller (but talented) devs from places like Japan, it can be hit and miss for them to contact MS or to get a deal with more reputable pubs even if their add-ons are good.

I would say, don’t exclude any store, but never buy anything before reading/watching extensive reviews (not the 3-lines ones you find on Simmarket). It’s much harder to get someone to fake a 5,000 words article or a 20 minutes video than a couple of paragraph and a star score.

I’d love to see a proper F-16 in the game. Hopefully MS will develop default supersonic aircraft along with the supersonic physics update (which was talked about in some developer video a while ago).
I am sick and tired of these cash grab sh…

A fool and his money are soon parted.

Because they profit off every single marketplace purchase. With an increasing amount of overpriced, extreme low quality 3rd party dlc, they aren’t going to cut off that supply of cash. Wait until the young console gamers get their hands on MSFS & it’s marketplace.

I swear if I see people defending this product like some Bredok fanpeople did I’m gonna blow my top

Why tf are people even buying/paying attention to this stuff. Control yourselves. Stop throwing money at every little thing that could be remotely interesting. They’re banking on msfs-addon starved people to give in and buy their ■■■■■■ products. The msfs addon market is relatively young and is not very saturated w/ content yet, that much is known. These “devs” recognize the value of being first to the market and are exploiting it. Just be patient and have some standards for where you spend your money. Yeesh. I hate seeing SCAMMERS make money. Some of these planes are literal scams.

If Asobo would of included the FSX F18, everyone would not be jumping at these quick built, half backed F-fighters that are available.

Check SimMarket. This garbage is already on #2 sales spot after the Bandeirante for this week. I knew this would happen. And, of course, a glowing 4 star rating. 2 4-star reviews one after another from the same guy.

Hi,

If there is a market for an F-16 I will make one, definitely. Deimos Inc should be ashamed of themselves, the reasons for which will become clear soon ( beyond the low quality of their F-16 ).

There is a market for anything that DC DESIGNS will make

While I do agree that simmarket sells a lot of subpar products, your statement about policing is simply NOT true.

If you venture to go on the website, there are plenty of products rated 1 or 2 stars. I have personally given products 1 star reviews and my reviews have appeared verbatim.
