Face gasket for HP Reverb

Can anyone recommend a replacement face gasket for the Reverb? I have tried the AMVR one. It was definitely more comfortable than the supplied one, but for some reason when using FS20 it caused the headset to go blank. Sound working, PC screen working, but nothing in the headset. Switched back to supplied gasket and everything back to normal. Any help and recomendation welcome

A guess: Is there a setting in the WMR Options for automated recognition if the headset is worn?

Sorry, I may have not worded the post properly. The headset is no problem and works perfectly until I switch the supplied gasket with the AMVR third party item. Then, for some reason, the headset goes blank. The only thing that I can think of is that the fitting magnets in the AMVR are stronger than those in the supplied gasket and somehow interfere with the cable signal.

If I remember correctly there is WMR option which disables the display in the headset, when you take it off. I would guess that the new gasket impacts the recognition if you have the headset donned. Consider looking for and disabling this option.

There is a sleep option which shuts the headset down after a preset time of inactivity. The purpose of that is to prevent screen burn if the set is left inactive for more than half an hour, a bit like the early LED monitors and TVs. But it is not that.

Try to mod it, i got the fitting VRCover and put it directly on the frame of the G2, no gasket in between. I did it to get the biggest possible FOV but sounds like it might solve your magnet issue as well.

Thanks for the replies. I am now getting the problem with the supplied gasket, so I am suspecting a cable problem. HP are sending me a replacement cable. If that does not work then it is a replacement headset as it is still well within warranty. At least HP are contactable and willing to help, unlike the nightmare hoops and loops game that Oculus customer care is.

Are third party face gaskets for the G2 worth it? Do they genuinely improve the field of view or are they just more comfortable? I’m still using the stock one.

The AMVR face gasket is definitely better than the stock one in my experience. Always providing of course that it is the cable and not the gasket that has caused the above problem. I have prescription lenses added to my Reverb and the AMVR gasket gives a better clearance for the lenses, making for a sharper image when viewing instruments especially. I also have the Creative Form headband and find that that is a lot more comfortable than the stock version.

IMHO definitely yes. My Haptic Prints face gasket https://haptic-prints.com/product/hp-reverb-g2-widevision-mod-gasket improves the field of view and increases the sweet spot noticeably.

Looks good. I live in the UK so would need to see if they ship here.

I’m in the UK too, they definitely ship here, it took about 10 days to arrive from Germany.

I have 3D printed DIY gasket with added cushion. Shallower that the original one. Bigger sweetspot and FOV. Unsuitable for wearing glasses though. I strongly prefer flying with the modified gasket, doesn’t matter as much in general VR games like Alyx.

The new cable did not work and in fact added a bonus in that with the headset switched on, the computer mouse disappeared. That was with FS20 and the home screen. HP are now sending out a replacement headset. Annoying though this is, compared to the way I was treated by Meta last year when my Meta Quest packed in it is excellent service, and I am not complaining.

I just got this face gasket delivered from Germany and fitted to my G2. The field of view and sweet spot is definitely better. I’m not convinced its more comfortable than the stock gasket though but I’ll need to give it more of a go.

Your eyes really are very, very close to the lenses. I can see why HP didn’t go for this design out of the box.

Good to hear your impressions of the gasket. When I got mine I felt the same as you regarding comfort but now I find it fine for long periods in the SIM.

Edit: Just to add I found the Haptic Prints gasket more comfortable the more I used it. Naturally it will depend on your face shape etc though.
