Fast Launch not working

Hi all,

I have done a complete uninstall / reinstall of MSFS2020, standard MS Store version, no add ons . I am running latest Win 10 on an I7 11700K processer with 32Gb Ram. MSFS is on the system drive Samsung Pro SSD NVMe, 5000Mb/s avg speed.

MSFS takes about 3 1/2 minutes to ready to fly point. I would like to reduce that. I have tried the fast launch command but all it does is give me a dialog box that says “game is already running”.

How do I invoke fast launch?

Regards,

Steve

Create a shortcut with the following target, this works for me:

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start shell:AppsFolder\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App -FastLaunch

See also the FAQ:

note: FastLaunch disable only the start promotion videos.

You probably won’t get too much better than what you are seeing, a lot of folks take significantly longer than that to boot up the sim.

Thanks,

That worked. All the other cmd command lines posted on line did not work. Although, it only stopped the developers spalsh screens, not all the extras that MS tells you are in the game, like bespoke airports, world maps, etc. I don’t know if those can be stopped from displaying.

I tried one of these things a while back. Made negligible difference to load times. Not worth the clutter IMHO.

In my case it made a 26 second difference, 2:19 vs 2:45. Is it worth it, probably not. Although it is worth it to get rid of the annoying start up logos, associated sounds and copyright notice.

i also tried the -FastLaunch, but on my system only the promotion videos disappeared, but with no reduced start time until landing on the homepage.
