This isn’t exactly aircraft related. It’s actually a picture taken in, (yes, it’s a real place), “Peculiar” Missouri.
I was wandering around my system today, saw that, and it soooo reminded me of trying to learn FS-2024.
The story is that the people of this town were offered the opportunity to suggest suitable names when it was being incorporated by the state of Missouri. Their reply? They didn’t want any ordinary, stick-in-the-mud, ho-hum, everyday town name, they wanted one that was more peculiar[1]. So the state gave them what they asked for.

- Back in the later 1800’s and earlier 1900’s, “peculiar” meant something unusual and interesting, not the “odd-ball and/or weirdo” meaning it has today.
