Are the constraints supposed to be working now? They show up properly in the flight plan and on the ND but the autopilot seems to ignore them. Same with speed constraints. Just noticed flying into Denver. They were all perfectly identified but did not seem observed in managed mode.
Thanks for the response. I’ve used this before and previously set the altitude to the value of the last constraint — sometimes the vertical ILS intercept point — and it worked. Did something change?
Also, is this technically VNAV? Thought that was not really implemented yet.
Thanks much. I must have been in OP DES and not DES. Just went back and tested it again and it seems to work. Two questions:
Should it use the constraint of the upcoming waypoint OR the waypoint after the next on? Flying into Denver on 16L it always seemed to be one constraint ahead of where I expected it to be. Basically, it got low too quickly. I am using the current Navigraph data if that matters.
Made me realize I may not fully understand how to engage DES. Is there any situation when a PUSH on the ALT button would engage OP DES vs DES? Realize a PULL always should.
They are still not working properly. Even in managed DES mode, the aircraft blows through most of them. The frustration is that is seems unpredictable- about half the constraints are respected and half aren’t. I am not doing anything wrong as I never have this problem in the X-Plane Toliss equivalent (which is still so much more enjoyable because it actually has VNAV). It is very frustrating to go through a whole flight, planning and all, only to end up completely messing up the approach because of this issue. But because it’s free, we can’t complain, I guess.
VNAV / managed mode isn’t implemented yet. I can usually only get managed mode to follow constraints on the approach and not the arrival. I asked about this not long ago on the FBW discord and was told managed VNAV isn’t yet working.
Been working on my end… I assume the constraint button has been pressed AND their are no dislocations along the descent path in the flight plan. When I import from simbrief and add arrival/star info afterwards you can end up with some flight paths that go down then up and then down again. This will not work. Also, have found if plane is going too fast it will not be able to descend quickly enough. I usually enable approach and slow down to the green dot speed. Sorry if this is all obvious.
Can you add a screen shot of the flight plan with the constraints it is not following?
