When I disconnect the autopilot, it seams I have no control over the trim wheel.
Is this normal?
You may want to modify your title since only the tag hints at the use of FBW A320? Just a suggestion.
During normal ops you don’t trim the A320 manually, never.
Unfortunately this applies to the MSFS 787 as well, which a major error.
I knew that. But we still should have the control of the trim after we disconnect the autopilot during landing. Must be a bug in the system.
Again, you don’t trim. Not during landing either.
Got it now!! This is the way this aircraft is designed. It’s weird for me as other aircraft you have full control of trim. Thanks anyway!!
The A320 has a flare mode where at 150ft above runway height, the elevator trim will cease to operate. That way it creates an artificial feel for landing a conventional aircraft that is not fly-by-wire. Meaning you have to maintain a back pressure on the stick to keep the nose up.
But that is for “full auto landing” mode, right?
If you disconnect autopilot at 2000 feet and want to do a manual landing, that
is what I’m not sure as I think you need to flare yourself, right?
And that is where I was confused about the “trim”!
No for manual landing. It’s well documented on the internet. Doing a search with key words “A320 flare mode” will tell you exactly what I posted.
Edit: I was off on the numbers, some say 50’ above. It depends on if Neo or the older gen A320. There is a difference.
