FBW A320 Check Weight

While climbing out this message appeared in the MCDU. I could find no way to resolve this and, of course, the AP would not continue. What does this mean and how can it be resolved. Development version.

Moved to Third Party-Aircraft. FBW a320 is a third party Aeroplane

Strange noticed this aswell and was going to ask the same question!

I entered my weights the same way I always have and noticed this last night on latest dev build.

No idea really what your specific issue might be with the info provided, but generally on their Discord channel, anything regarding weight usually has them remind everyone that they recently moved all weight management to their EFB, so make sure all of your adjustments are done there. This is for the Dev version. Stable still utilizes the MCDU.

It took me a while to figure it out, but here’s the solution (I use the DEV version):

  1. Go to the MCDU.
  2. Click page: INIT
  3. Click arow to the right (next page)
  4. Click ZFW/ZFWCG (2 times!!!)
The numbers will be set and the message will disappear.

Hope this will do for you.

I strongly recommend reading the online documentation. If you are still using the MCDU to update fuel/weights, then you must be on an old version of the aircraft. The dev version appears to have moved all of this to the EFB, so I don’t think anyone should be using the MCDU for payloads anymore.

The online documentation has this important section:

When starting the aircraft from a Cold and Dark state please be aware of the following important information:

  • INIT FUEL PRED must be completed prior to departure. (This is detailed in our beginner guide. Please ensure that you complete this step when preparing the MCDU.)
  • Failure to complete the INIT FUEL PRED page before starting an engine will display INITIALIZE WEIGHT/CG in amber on the MCDU Scratchpad.
  • When there is a GW mismatch of more than 7 tonnes between the values calculated aerodynamically and the value calculated using the inputted ZFW and fuel flow CHECK WEIGHT will be displayed in amber on the MCDU Scratchpad.

One more Public Service Announcement and then I’ll shut up

If you use Simbrief for planning, be sure to update the airframe profile, or PAX and cargo won’t load properly via the EFB. I learned that the hard way today when I abandoned all 171 passengers at the gate!

The original “runaway pilot”!! Great advise! Thanks

So how do we clear the CHECK WEIGHT amber alert on the scratchpad while in mid flight? I set everything up at the gate correctly in the MCDU. I think what is happening is the ECAM alert “OUTR TK XFRD” shows up and then this CHECK WEIGHT shows up on the scratch pad.

Other than that, everything is working quite well.
