Hey guys I wanted to check and see if anyone knows if any sort of autopilot descent works with the FBW A320? I’ve been trying to look it up but have been getting conflicting info.
I’ve seen some people say that a T.O.D is calculated and the plane will follow a descent path and others say you have to do it all manually which seems kind of crazy for an Airbus jetliner.
Anyone that flies the FBW A320 let me know what you know on the latest version. Thanks!
When ATC tells me to descend, I just turn the altitude knob to the target altitude, and press it to engage the managed descent… Easy.
This is a section on my video at my TOD.
i don’t use ATC in MSFS currently as I thought it was buggy. Does ATC take into account altitude steps/restrictions in your FMS course?
If you set a STAR in your flight plan, they do take the altitude restrictions into account (most of the time). They don’t do well with SIDs altitude restrictions though.
But they always assign the right altitude to me when I’m cleared for a certain approach.
Did you actually experience the bug, or did you thought it was buggy because someone else says so? I have about 900 hours of flights logged in MSFS and all of them are using default ATC.
There’s no VNAV in any of the FBW versions. Currently the best way to descend (IMO) while meeting specific restrictions on a STAR is by using VS mode and the calculator on the EFB to predict what altitude you will hit at your current rate of descent.

when i first was flying in MSFS i had a lot of trouble with ATC (like repeating things I’m already doing or not responding to requests) so stopped using it and haven’t really missed it, I enjoy the sim just fine regardless. maybe it’s been upgraded since then
I too addressed your OG question over in the AVSIM forum, might want to check it out.
