FBW A320 development version - throttles

This one really didn’t work for me…

I can’t get the blinking to stop ‘LVR CLB’ and reverse thrust was suddenly on my throttle and then disappeared. Did I skip some Airbus calibration or is this new code buggy?

It’s not buggy. It’s working perfectly…

Well. Yesterday here too.

Turns out I now have to calibrate first through the Flypad. Hope that is a one time affair. Seems for some joysticks this fix has the opposite effect.

yes, that’s been the case for several months now.

That was never necessary for my joystick. It just worked.

Until today.

So where the aim of this fix apparently was to have a joystick just work without calibrating - which it already did - I now had to calibrate.

It’s just the defaults. If you have calibrated them it’s not affecting you. So I guess you used the defaults and did not calibrate.

Please do that via EFB. There are a lot tutorials on YouTube that can help you.

Thanks @AGuther.

I remembered seeing the calibration page somewhere, so I tried that after some searching. Seems to have solved the issue.

After updates to the Dev version yesterday 6/10 I went to re-calibrate the throttle as usual because I do a clean install upon updates, deleting the flybywire folder in LocalState\Packages directory as well. I use a Logitech Extreme3D and in the calibration menu on the EFB I had to select that it had a reverser before I could even begin to calibrate… all worked fine with no apparent issues. If I didn’t select has reverser, there would be red text on the EFB with a message about values overlapping or something of that nature. Will have to see what updates today bring.

I’'m not happy with the changes. I now have the reverser on my throttle slider. Not sure how to get rid of that. I just want idle when I pull the slider to the lowest position. Now I constantly have to look where the throttle is.

It was all working fine before this change.

I will investigate further and play with that setting of ‘reverser’ you mention. See if I can get rid of it. If I can find it

EDIT: ah I found it, thanks… that worked…

All these issues are really issues for FBW. Can i Suggest that you go to their Support on their Discord channel where the Developers and other people who have lots of knowledge about how this plane works will give you direct one - one support and this particular issue is pinned.

In the calibration page click “reverser on axis” thing to get rid of reverse on your throttle axis if you don’t have a reverse range.

Yep, found that. I got confused the first time… thought it meant it would reverse the slider, since that’s usually an option too, in joystick settings. And fiddling on that tablet… it’s all a bit small.

But it’s working now.

I would gladly be more active on there… however as a personal preference I’d rather keep my cell phone number off of discords platform as well as other platforms and apparently on there you have to give your phone number to discord in order to post. It’s understandable though they want to combat spam.

I certainly didn’t provide a number when I signed up and then of course you can always use something like 123456789 if it is required now

I’m not that invested to get yet another account. They’re also having discussions on GitHub (signing up again). And a lot of people post here about it.

But I had a look at the discord thread, thanks for pointing that out. There’s definitely an issue with this joystick ‘default’.

Had a look at the code… what they did was put the reverser default ‘on’, where it was default ‘off’. So anyone who didn’t calibrate their joystick is now suddenly stuck with this ‘reverser’ issue, without knowing about the calibration requirement.

Apart from that, on my quite okay joystick, these new defaults also failed in flight, where the reverser suddenly disappeared and the predefined positions didn’t work. So in an attempt to make the ‘default’ work properly they invalidated a whole bunch of ‘default’ joysticks that were working fine without calibration.

Oh well, I have it working now… but good way to create some comments on discord…

If I’m not mistaken discord will send you a code to your phone that you then verify by sending it back or typing it in before it will allow you to post a question.

I’ve had discord long before Flybywire was on discord and at one point this was not a requirement at all on the flybywire discord. I’ve seen multiple channels over time turn to this being a requirement, therefor I no longer engage in conversation on the channels…

I’m afraid that the 123456789 way won’t work. I’ve even tried signing up for talkatone and use a number that way, but those numbers they issue aren’t databased like cell phone service providers numbers are. Which is also good measure to prevent fraudulent actions, understandable…

But not everyone who refuses to give their telephone number has fraudulent intent. Seemingly can begin to be perceived that way though. I wouldn’t walk up to a gathering of people in a park discussing current times and stick around very long if they required me to put my cell phone number on a sheet of paper even if I was insured no one there would ever see it. I’d tell them to have nice day and carry on…

No fault at all from Flybywire, can understand their position.

Cheers!
