FBW A320 flies in circles

Flying the FBW A320 into KCMH, DUBLIN1 STAR, 28L with HARMON transition to the approach. I passed the manual waypoint on the flight plan and flew a few miles straight to give a nice angle to HARMON. I then selected direct to HARMON. I was at the right altitude and speed when I turned on the ILS LOC and then APPR. Then the plane started flying in circles and buzzing at me. Never could get it going to HARMON. Can anyone advise what I might have done wrong?

This happens on a lot of aircraft, default or payware. If your aircraft is turning to the left, turn your joystick to the right. If it’s going right, turn it to the left. That should re-calibrate it.

Need more information. Can you provide screenshots of the flight plan in the MCDU and the PLD and MFD

Alread closed down. I’ll load the same plan tomorrow and send the pictures. I had a feeling i nay ha e caused this by activating ILS too soon.

I usually activate ILS 10 miles from the airport. When do you activate yours?

When the aircraft instrumentation indicates it is appropriate

Here is the information you requested. On the LNM map I let the plane fly along the previous heading and altitude until I think the intercept to the ILS will be at a proper angle before I instruct the AP to go direct to the intercept (in this case HAMON). I chose direct to HAMON, activated LOC and the plane started flying in circles to the right and never found the ILS. I haven’t figured out how to add a picture to a post.

Ok you asked what you did wrong.

You should not go by “I think”. You need to use your instruments properly. There are many YouTube videos by actual pilots showing how to do an ILS properly in MSFS. Watch them and learn.

I was right. I had activated the ILS system too soon and the plane was hunting for the signal. Did a second flight, increased the intercept angle and delayed activating the ILS until I saw the LOC starting to track in the FD. Captured the GS and the LOC and landed. Thanks for the help.
