I’ve been trying with wind and without wind, but no matter what I do the plane will not takeoff or land straight and stay on the runway. The nosewheel seems to flop all over the place causing the plane to veer severely to one side or the other, no matter how small I keep my rudder motions. I do keep some forward down stick until 100 knots. I am using the TCA Airbus joystick and I do keep trying to adjust the rudder dead zone, but the erratic motions of the nosewheel continue. Is there a chance of being able to set a nosewheel lock for take off and landing? Any advice will be much appreciated.
Cannot reproduce the issues you are describing.
- What flight model do you use?
- Which axis did you assign?
- Do you have enough performance?
I use the development version and I have an i9 10900K with an RTX 3080 and 32GB ram. It runs the A320nx really well. Everything works, the nosewheel is just very oversensitive and erratic. Here are my joystick settings, the Z axis is for the rudder.
Hmm…that’s very strange then. Can you make a screen with the assignment of the rudder?
Can you also check that no other assignments are on steering or rudder?
My sensitivity looks very similar to yours and I have no issues with my rudder…
All other assignments are basically default. I have gone through assignments and deleted any conflicts. I can do a straight takeoff and landing, but if I make a slight adjustment to the direction, the nosewheel reacts way too much. Perhaps more deadzone on the rudder? What do you use?
Hi,
that’s what I use:
So it’s quite strange. Are you sure you did not assign any of the steering events (DECREASE STEERING, INCREASE STEERING, SET STEERING)?
Hi, Thanks for the info, and I appreciate your time and advice. I don’t use pedals, so that could be it. I haven’t changed the controls axis from the default. I’ll keep experimenting. I know that in a real Airbus they lock the nosewheel for take off and landing. I think we need something like that in FBW.
Hmm…I can try again with my Joystick with rudder axis…
Maybe try gain with much much less sensitivity to see if it stops then? Just to rule out any other problem.
To me it sounds like there is something not as it should be… „
I’m using the latest experimental version and use pedals. I have the same problem with landing. The plane veers wildly left or right, almost skidding. It’s fine at touchdown but as soon as I apply a small amount of pedals to keep straight the plane swerves and starts sliding.
Hmm, what settings do you use for assistance? is there any auto rudder or anything maybe?
I use for all hard and also modern flight model.
No assists. I have auto rudder turned off. The steering with pedals has worked just fine in previous versions and the stable version of the FBW mod
Just downloaded and installed stable release and can confirm no issues with steering when landing with pedals. Only the experimental version slides all over the runway.
I got a similar problem many weeks ago. I got the problem that the plane moves weird at ground at takeoff etc. After I while I have seen that my thrustmaster tca joystick was flickering and moving without any movement by myself, even the joystick was locked so that only steering via pedals was possible . I had to increase the dead zone to 100 so that every possible flickering was not detected. After that the problem disappear. I got new pedals so I’ll check if this isa new problem with the developer.
That’s a known problem with this joystick due to the routing of the cable for the twist axis.
If you open the joystick this is AFAIK a pretty easy fix.
Same problem here and only on the dev build. Stable is fine steering wise. This issue has been present in the dev build since before the experimental was merged.
This issue and the poor fps has been keeping me from even using the plane. Modern ALL Realistic and Hard settings. Been flying this thing on and off since release and the steering is most certainly overly sensitive now
Im currently very limited in time, but I will try the Thrustmaster TCA Joystick how it behaves.
Ok, did a check today with the Thrustmaster TCA and did not encounter any issue…now the big question is why you have the issues. I’m honestly out of ideas…
Same here, pedals flickering with no movement of the sidestick, and if you are off the runway centerline don’t try to correct it or you will end up trashing the aircraft.
I increased the dead zone, it did help reduce the " dancing pedals " but you can tell there is definitely something wrong, this has been mentioned by a few others.
Update,
Reset the dead zone and tried again tonight and the pedals were OK …
If you use the latest development version, the pedals are only moving based on trim and hardware input…so if they are moving it’s because of input…
How do you fix it?
