I am unable to open the Remote Display in my FBW A320neo.
Everyting works perfectly on the PC, but I can not get past this hurdle.
I have entered the correct IP address, but to no avail.
I am a tech newbie, so looking for help…
A couple things come to mind. You need their Simbridge app running, and you also need the Simbridge add on sim package in your community folder.
Not sure what you mean by the Simbrief add-on package that has to be in the community folder?
Simbridge. It’s a FBW application and sim package to enable additional features, like terrain radar and external MCDU display.
One is a .exe you run in the PC, and the other is a package that goes in the community folder.
They have documentation on this at their website you may want to check out.
I have read the documentation and have not found any reference to a file that goes into the community folder.
Perhaps that is why no matter what I try I can not get the remote MDCU to open on my iPad.
The documentation says:”You can easily open the remote on any supported device connected to the local network by navigating to http://simbridge.local:8380/interfaces/mcdu”.
When I try that…nothing opens…
I am using the Firefox browser on my iPad.
Why can I not get this to work?
You can either install the community folder content using the FBW installer, or you can do it manually and place it in the community folder. It’s documented here:
Have you ever seen the YouTube video by Paul Alexandrow who claims he is the developer of the Remote?
It is half an hour long and full of step-by-step instructions in heavily German accented English. You have to be a computer nerd to follow this.
It is totally opposite of the very easy installation you advocate…
BTW I still can not get that to work…
No I’ve never seen that video.
-
Install the FBW plane and Simbridge through their installer. If installed correctly, you’ll see a checkmark.
-
Make sure the following two folders are in your Community folder as shown.
-
Run the Simbridge executable located in the flybywire-externaltools-simbridge folder. This will run in the background and put an icon in your Windows program tray.
-
You can Show/Hide the console window from the program tray icon if you want, it will look something like this. You don’t really need to do this unless you’re curious, or want to see port/IP info and things like that.
-
Load into the plane. If you just want it to automatically open up a browser window with the MCDU showing, you can also launch that from the program tray icon with the following result.
