If you would get a very boring, but technically highly specific and complex answer requiring subject matter expertise - what would you do with it? Or what kind of answer for „why can’t time efforts of creative work hardly ever be estimated“ would you expect anyway? Genuinely curious…
One of my former bosses demanded exactly that - and on a tight schedule. So I gave him a 132-page report of exactly how the various algorithms worked, along with the actual code snippets. A few days later, I tested him to see if he had read it - he hadn’t.
His lame excuse - “I wanted to see if YOU understood it.” My response: "of course I understood it. I wrote it, it’s been extensively tested, beaten upon, and the tricky parts of the search algorithm optimizations that kind of look wrong, they’re blocked off with notes saying “There be dragons - don’t you DARE change this.”
I told him never to do that again, and he didn’t.
Moral of the story: You can waste a LOT of time (and interrupt someone “in the zone” or “in the workflow” by asking for reports you can’t understand - and anyone who could understand them won’t ask for them, because they’ve been there.
And if a USER had asked for such details, forget it. Exactly what would you do with it?
We chouldn’t care about the whys of the delays - just what we can do with the end result. If you’ve ever worked with a compiler with a bug in it (and they all have bugs), you already know how important it is to get it right.
Random thought – maybe one of the “surprise” updates listed for later in the year is a whole sim update focused on an ATC overhaul the same way that AAU focused on the Garmins…
Somewhat doubtful since in one of the Dev Discussions Jorg pretty much said, don’t expect ATC to be completed by end of 2023. But we can all hope that it does get fixed.
Regards
For me personally if there’s no changes to the ATC/AI angle by the halfway mark of development I’ll stop holding my breath as I’ll be dead at that point
. Weather loosely included but I have a feeling we’ll see weather attended to well before ATC.
Hello @CplPhokett,
I’m not sure what you mean by this question. The target release date for SU12 was pushed back by one week from March 14 to March 21 (and, indeed, the original March 14 date was always a target, never a firm date). We have not said that moving SU12 back by a week has anything to do with WASM on Xbox.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
Hi @SeedyL3205,
If let’s say SU12 beta drops tomorrow, do you think will there be enough time to test all the new functionalities and regressions in one month ? Or depending on the situation, the release date might be pushed back further again ?
Thanks and best regards !
Hello @MuTe0794,
The target release of March 21 for SU12 is only a target, not a confirmed fixed date. The final release date will be influenced by how well the beta build(s) are received by testers.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
Thanks a lot !
I really hope we will see some VR and QOL fixes in this update.
just done the madate update to 1.31.18 and now i cant load the sim i get it come up bleu line goes half way across then it shuts off
