Finland - forestation is massively incorrect

no

yes

Brief description of the issue:

In the simulator, almost the entire Finland is covered with coniferous forests, and only the very south coast has deciduous forests or mixed forests with some deciduous trees.

Actually, Finland has a lot of deciduous forests and mixed forests all the way to the north, although conifers are more common.

this difference breaks the immersion.

now is a good time to fix this for the next world update

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

The source is Ecoregions where erroneously most of Finland and Sweden are Ecoregion: Scandinavian and Russian taiga
Biome: Boreal Forests/Taiga
Realm: Palearctic
Eco ID: 717

Please add much more deciduous trees in this biomeas a fix.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

Yes, i did notice this when i did purchase Rex Accuseason advanced. Here is comparison pictures with using the app, that makes sense about this bug contributed here by @ObjectedTexas4

Same settings, diffrent region. Germany with fall coloured textures and Finland doesent have any. Should be more deciduous forests and mixed forests like been said.

Filed a bug to REX but they reported (took this question anyhow seriously, thanks for that) that the root cause is bad ecoregion definitions in MS base sim, where Finland and part on Sweden are included in “Scandinavian and Russian taiga”, which in turn doesn’t contain deciduous trees.
Did some research around this. Found a (manual) solution: Move “Scandinavian and Russian taiga” in biome definitions so that same biome rules as for “Sarmatic Mixed Forests” (Aland and South-West part of Finland) are applied. As a side effect, Russian taiga then includes deciduous trees until Ural, but I can live with that, not flying in Russia.

This is done as follows (in AccuSeason file). Add one boldfaced line to

– 10-asobo-biomes.xml (in your community or MSFS folder, where ever that is in your setup) –

Add row: EcoRegion name=“Scandinavian and Russian taiga” here:

<EcoRegionList>
			<!-- Tier 1 Euro -->
			<EcoRegion name="East European forest steppe"/>
			<EcoRegion name="Sarmatic Mixed Forests"/>
			<EcoRegion name="Scandinavian and Russian taiga"/>
			<EcoRegion name="Western Siberian hemiboreal forests"/>
		</EcoRegionList>

And remove from: Conifer_Cold_Boreal biome rule at the end of the same file, delete this row from there:
<EcoRegion name="Scandinavian and Russian taiga"/>

Of course updates done by REX AccuSeason will overwrite this, so it must be re-done. Someone could do a simple utility or script to do this simple XML edit automatically.

Then: Autumn has arrived in Helsinki finally, Malmi airport for example:

will Rex do this update? So it is Rex`s glitch?

It’s a problem in the base sim. A workaround like @ObjectedTexas4 is suggesting is the only solution, unless Asobo revisit the delineation of the biome regions.

Unable to reproduce in recent builds.
