Welcome to the 193rd flight event with Gunpilot and a whole bunch of other like-minded sim pilots in MSFS 2024. If you have just discovered these flight events for the first time, welcome aboard and you will be made to feel very much at home with the rest of the pilots on the flight.
The only request we make is that you arrive on the tarmac in the aircraft designated for the flight (and if the aircraft is one you have not flown before, take a few minutes to acquaint yourself with the aircraft flight characteristics prior to dropping in onto the rwy at the start of the event). Join in the banter on the supplied COMMS RADIO which can be found in Gunpilot’s Discord server (click on this link to take you directly to Gunpilot’s server Discord).
This weeks flight details:
The bush flight from Seattle to Portland in October is a breathtaking journey that blends natural beauty with thrilling adventure. As the Twin Otter aircraft lift off from Seattle, the expansive vistas of the Pacific Northwest come alive. Below, a kaleidoscope of autumn colors paints the landscape, with fiery reds, golden yellows, and deep oranges blanketing the forests. The pilots — an intrepid group with a penchant for adventure — navigate over winding rivers and rugged mountain terrain, marveling at the serene beauty that contrasts with the adrenaline-fueled excitement of the flight. The crisp fall air, punctuated by patches of morning showers, creates an atmosphere both tranquil and electric, heightening the anticipation of the challenging route ahead.
The journey is no leisurely cruise. Bush landings in remote terrain, tucked deep within the wilderness, demand skill and precision. Gusty winds and sudden shifts in weather test even the most seasoned pilots, with moments of low visibility upping the ante. Yet, each challenge will be met with enthusiasm and camaraderie, as the team will relish the chance to push their skills to the limit. From navigating tight valleys to executing short-field landings on rugged clearings, every stop offers its own reward — a closer connection to the raw, untamed beauty of the Pacific Northwest. By the time the aircraft touch down in Portland, the pilots will be exhilarated, having experienced not only the stunning splendor of autumn but also the thrill of a shared adventure through the skies.
The aircraft selected for this flight is the De Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter.
*Again, a packaged up WEATHER file has been developed and included along with the flight plan, negating any need for anyone to dial in weather settings, as well as ensuring that all pilots are experiencing exactly the same weather conditions. The Weather Preset file is located in #gunpilots-events (click this link Discord) to be taken there. Load this file directly into the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 directory on your PC in the PRESETS folder which is located within the WEATHER folder in the aforementioned MSFS2024 directory
SPECIAL NOTE: An add-on has been provided which will remove the unwanted Asobo trees from both ends of airstrips that have trees around them. Very useful, just add into your Community folder and you are all set. Grab it from #gunpilots-events in his discord server Discord
