I ran into an issue on my first Helicopter sightseeing mission. After loading the passenger and starting up the heli, I’m prompted to taxi over the Helipad 1, this is at Montreal Metro Airport, CYHU, to taxi from the parking spot to the Helipad 1 requires to cross at least one active runway. Soon as you cross the centerline you got a pilot error, stating that you did not acquire take off clearance and entered to the runway. I restarted the mission and held short before entering to the runway, but there is no option on the radio to request crossing the runway from ground control, I also tried requesting T/O clearance before entering the runway, maybe I could get on that way, switched to the tower freq. but again, there was no option to request T/O clearance.
Another issue here is when I received the pilot error due to crossing the runway, the waypoint for helipad went away, so there was no way for me to find Helipad 1. There were no taxi arrows at all even before the pilot error.
The entire Montreal Metro Airport is broken. The are no taxi markers to follow, the helipad 1 location is wrong. Even if you skip the taxi, it will still give you an infraction for entering the runway. After completing the trip and coming in to land, the pattern path is missing and takes you again to the non existant helipad 1. If you skip the landing procedure it will land you on top of a roof above the real helipad 1.
That you have to taxi the helicopter at all just doesn’t seem right. At least the infractions don’t hurt you too much.
Depends of the airport, some airport (like KCRQ) the helis just take off from the parking, other airports require the helis to hover taxi to T/O spots. I would gladly do it if it would work (it works ok in the training sessions).
