Fix Sim Update 5 crashes! Simple tip!

Hello everyone,

I changed the rolling cache setting and from then I have had not one crash to desktop with Sim Update 5. This method has also worked for many others and might help your crashing issues!

Steps below:

Delete rolling cache
Set the limit to your liking (mine is 150GB as I have quite a bit of space on my SSD)
Allow the sim to remake the cache file
Quit MSFS
Reload
Done!

Video below for a visual guide!

Hope it helps!

Couldnā€™t you just tell us on the forum. Why make a video, to subject us to advertising?

No, so it can be shared everywhere easily to help people?

Yep hopefully that helps!

Nope.

Tried your advice and deleted it again (post SU5).

Did at least get off the ground this time, with about 5 min of flight. Decent FPS, some minor stuttering on occasion, thought ā€œhey - maybe this timeā€¦ā€ then ā€¦ car-assssshhhh. Guess I thought too soon.

Maybe the patchā€™ll get it straightened out.

I have added the steps on the post now. I made the video as a useful tool for the flight sim community - some who have just joined, so they can possibly solve an annoying issue like I did. Simply a method for me to help others and members of this wonderful community.

Letā€™s hope so! Iā€™m thinking it might have to do with the size of the cache as I set mine to quite a large value. Iā€™ll check out this new patch and see

My RC is not even activated, but I get constant freezes and occasional CTDā€˜s

I hope the hotfix will fix thingsā€¦

Itā€™s what streamers do itā€™s a work around for them to self promote

Also you can disable rolling cache you donā€™t actually need to have it running anyway.

Hotfix is now out so I hope your CTDs have been solved! Best of luck!

I really donā€™t understand these comments about the video I posted,

  1. The video shows you a visual guide - it might seem unnecessary but people benefit from watching someone explain and go through the process.

  2. I created the video to help the flight sim community - this was done because I found a fix that I wanted to share with you, thatā€™s it, and now it has created uproar.

  3. The video is embedded meaning if you watch it, it doesnā€™t even bring you to the actual video page. If I was that interested in promotion I wouldā€™ve led you to my channel.

I simply embedded a video so I could help the flight sim community and I find it very disrespectful that I am being criticised for this. I did not imagine me posting a video that may help you on a public forum designed for this will be frowned upon. I didnā€™t want to have to close this thread as I thought this can help so many of you but I had no choice due to some of these reactions I got. It amazes me how toxic this community can be. We can do better than this.
