(FIXED) - G1000 VNAV not functioning correctly

Was able to get it working by using the 3 VNV buttons on the MFD. Looks like this is a non issue.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
VNAV does not engage when reaching TOD on route.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:
Appears that any aircraft using the G1000

[PC Only] Community folder is empty since using msfs-2024.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Every time I try using VNV button on G1000

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Have a course that includes a TOD. for example, doing a visual approach to an airport.
  2. reduce the altitude to airport elevation.
  3. Press VNV on the G1000. (in msfs2020, vpath would be displayed in white on the right side of the information bar.)
  4. keep flying until you reach TOD. (in msfs2020, when TOD was reached, vpath would change from white to geen indicating that vnav was active and the plane would start descending.) In msfs-2024, you have to use VS and descend to intercept the glide slope at which time vnav will engage

Has this been solved for the C-172? I have exactly the same problem with the B-787. VNAV does not engage at T/D (Top of descent). Maddening if this is yet another programming error and I was trying to fix in the cockpit.

Two different FMS - the Garmin and the Smith (737), so this thread can’t really help the latter. You can search for 737 and VNAV, there may be useful threads elsewhere.

Thanks, thought so. Looks like there is a bug in the 787 system:

@cdjus9200 , can you please elaborate on how to enable vnav using these buttons. I had followed some tutorials and wasn’t getting getting vnav to engage, and I found this post when trying to troubleshoot.
