:white_check_mark: ISSUE DESCRIPTION

  1. Description of the issue:
Flap speed limits are set to a very low amount in DHC2, G36 Bonanza, and VL3 in career mode, probably more but I haven’t unlocked them yet. When you deploy the first notch of flaps you get a penalty for overspeeding them causing a reduction in points. This can occur multiple times in a flight for takeoff and landing depending on the plane and it impacts scores.

  2. Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

Yes

:white_check_mark: FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you? (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)
Every time in these aircraft

:white_check_mark: REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue.

  1. Start a career flight in one of these aircraft: DHC2, Bonanza G36, VL3
  2. Start engine and stay stationary if you wish, also works in air
  3. Extend flaps. No matter the airspeed you will get a deduction.

:white_check_mark: YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

  1. What peripherals are you using, if relevant:
    Honeycomb Alpha/Bravo

  2. [PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?

Sim wont stop giving me penaltys for overflying without annoucements even when i am not overflying anything.
If we fly on a dense airfield area it is impossible to do anything.

Some planes give me flap overspeed warnings even when i am stopped on the ground.

Places taxyways inside tree areas and gives penaltys if tou go around, or crashes if you touch the trees.

Aditional windows sometimes appear distorted like pinched or flattened

really annoying and downhearting

I’ve also had some issues with incorrectly applied penalties:

  • Penalty for landing lights not being on, even in clear-sky daylight conditions
  • Penalty for landing lights not being on, even though lights were toggled “on”
  • Penalty for entering runway, even though ATC directed to cross that particular runway during taxi for takeoff
  • Penalty for not contacting ATC for ground movement after landing. This in particular was because the button was not being recognized as being pressed.

I have run into all of these issues.

I had all this issues and:

  • Penalty for flaps above maximum speed when aircraft is parked and engines OFF.
  • Penalty for landing on wrong runway after landing on correct rwy
  • Penalty for exceeding flaps speeds on Beaver at every speed

And the list still growing at every flight.

I’ve wondered in another thread if overflying private airports and/or helipads is causing this.

For these penalties to work the entire infrastructure needs to be perfect.

The problem with all this autogen is that it can never be perfect.

Ditch the penalties that rely on a perfect world.

First off, I know this isn’t the right location to post this. But I for the life of me can’t figure out how to create a new post…

Second, I received this error message during my 1.5 hr mission today… at the 1.3 hr mark.

Better off posting here mate rather than crossing this particular thread. You may have others with the same issue who can upvote or help you out. Install, Performance & Graphics - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums

Yeah, I’ve had the exact same things.

Certainly with the button not being recognised as pushed. I can only proceed to the runway and take the penalty to continue. Or often I’m directed to taxi to the runway by taxiing down the runway and making a U Turn even though there is a perfectly good route on the taxiway. Again I’ll receive a runway incursion penalty.

Another really annoying one is that the “hold short” box most of the time is on the runway.

The “stop” box after landing always seems to be at the runway threshold too, unless I land like a red bull stunt plane in a 100knot headwind I can’t possibly stop in the box, so I have to turn around and go the wrong way down the runway. The stop box should be dynamic depending on how far you run down it, or at least put it halfway down for single engine pistons. I could easily stop there.

These issues are made particularly harder on grass runways - there are no clear markings so it’s really easy to stray into a “taxi way”.

I’m experiencing the exact same issues, and they’re making helicopter missions a nightmare. I’m getting penalties before I’ve even left the airport. For instance, in the “gold” mission where you fly a VIP across New York, the issues were so pervasive that I ended up losing my entire reputation—dropping from an A to a low B.

Since I can’t upload attachments, here are a couple of clips illustrating the problems
EDIT: Seemingly i can’t include links either. HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO BE ABLE TO SHOW ISSUES MS??? PLease, for the love of god…

The penalty system needs significant adjustments. It shouldn’t reduce your reputation, especially when the penalties are caused by bugs. At the very least, players should have the option to restart the mission without penalties. If someone quits a mission, don’t punish them either, as they might be trying to avoid unjust penalties that could severely damage their career progression.

Career mode, in its current state, feels excessively strict and punishes players rather than rewarding them. It’s hard to imagine how frustrating this must be for new players. If a novice got penalized for something like extending flaps on the ground, they might assume flaps should never be used there. This kind of confusion could lead to improper takeoffs or landings, potentially resulting in crashes.

Here are some examples of similar issues shared by others:

  • Penalties for landing lights being off, even in clear daylight or when the lights are toggled on.
  • Being penalized for entering a runway, even when ATC explicitly directs you to cross it.
  • Incorrect flap overspeed warnings—even when parked with engines off.
  • Being told to stop in impossible locations, like the runway threshold after landing, forcing players to reverse or taxi the wrong way down the runway.

Other issues include:

  • Taxiways placed in obstructed areas (e.g., inside trees) that penalize you for avoiding obstacles or cause crashes if you try to comply.
  • Unclear markings on grass runways, making it easy to stray and pick up penalties.

The current system needs improvements, particularly for penalties applied due to bugs or unrealistic scenarios. For instance:

  • The “hold short” box often sits on the runway itself.
  • The post-landing stop box is almost always placed too far forward, forcing you to turn around and backtrack, which feels incredibly immersion-breaking.

These types of bugs and misapplied penalties make the experience overly punishing, and they detract from the enjoyment of flying. Fixing these issues would not only improve gameplay but also make it far more accessible to players of all experience levels.

Run into the following multiple times.

Max speed with flaps down exceeded (when on the ground lining up with runway/taxiing)
Overflying the airport without an announcement (when no airports are around)

Seems to be a common theme. Penalties left and right, even when following directions and key missions points.

Seems like most people covered them all. What would be nice is the old comms window versus just clicking the “enter” key and only when prompted.

The old coms window is still in the game. If you move your mouse cursor over the top tool bar it’s the chat icon.

I’ve noticed on some skydiving missions you cannot get a good time score even if you nose dive straight to the ground after dropping them and go straight to final.

To avoid the overflying an airport demerit, you need to pay attention to your route and identify any airports or helipads in your path and use the Communications panel to contact them by radio.

If you think about it, this is actually making the missions less “gamey”. I flew a bunch of missions last night and used the communications panel to make all the radio calls instead of just pressing the button indicated in the mission log. The mission structure lets you go into more realistic depth if you want to. You can do the checklists and startup yourself. You don’t always have to follow the path indicated by the blue squares.

Not everything is perfect. On a First Flight mission, when I called for taxi clearance, the controller denied it because the airport was in IFR conditions although the graphics indicated a clear day. Checking the AWOS, it was indeed IFR conditions according to the weather reporting. By the way, I was able to get past that by filing an IFR flight plan and cancelling once airborne. I thought it would deny my landing clearance on return but it didn’t.
