Flat screen textures vs VR textures

Let’s say that you start the game in flat screen mode where you have chosen high quality textures, and then switch to VR mode, where you have low textures enabled. Does the sim actually change texture quality from high to low, or does it stay what you had selected while you were in flat screen mode?

I’m asking this because the sim in general seems to be unable to change texture quality on the fly, and instead asks you to restart the program when changing the quality. This does not happen when switching between flat screen and VR, even if the selected quality is different. This makes me question if I’m actually using the the texture quality that I’ve selected. I can’t tell from the quality, because DLSS makes it look fuzzy in VR anyway.

I’d highly speculate 2D and VR are totally separate as far as that goes but that’s an interesting observation.

Most of the time just a VR session restart is all that’s needed for most of those changes.

I can remember from 2020 that the advise was to keep te resolution 2d/VR the same as it couldn’t change the res on the fly…
