Flight Controls, Throttle Quadrant problem

First - Do this before you uninstall and reinstall. It’s worth a try.

  1. At Administrator Command Prompt - SFC /SCANNOW
  2. When finished run CHKDSK /F/R - Windows will say cannot get permissions to drive or some such and ask for you to run at next restart. Say Y and restart PC.
Depending on drive size could take couple hours.

Once back into Windows, right click “This PC”, Manage, event viewer, and see if any critical errors directly related to sim or devices. If none, clear event viewer in all areas, i.e., Application, etc.
While there, I would delete all the entries under USB Devices in “Device Manager” - You will lose mouse so you may have to use keyboard to move around anyway delete as many as you can.
Restart PC - Windows will find devices which are plugged in.
Try to setup throttle or device now. Good Luck.

Thanks for taking the time to show me how to do it.
It has obviously escaped me for a good many years!

GOT IT!!! Thank you TheSevenflyer! It was the DIview that saved me. All of the quadrant levers were out of calibration. What a great tool to use. Thanks again to all of you, I have learned a lot today!

Oh wow.
That was indeed a marathon. :+1:
I’m looking forward to PlumbGlue67 showing me how to use the Windows tool to calibrate.
There is always so much to learn!

Good Flights!

You Rock! Thanks for hanging with me on this. If your ever in Michigan, I owe you a couple of pops!

As I don’t use it anymore, I had to bring it back from the cellar and re-plug it.
Looking at your pics, I don’t know what calibration app your Windows have, not the same than mine which is the original from Win10. (And was the same since…a long time, perhaps Windows XP).

Better than pics I made a video.

@stagegunfly7:
I told you above about calibration.
You should have the same success with Windows calibration if some people didn’t say it’s impossible
Anyway, DIview is great.

Yes, unfortunately it has changed.
I used to be able to do that as well.
There are some controllers that still can be calibrated in Windows, but Saitek is not one of them.
As you can see from the pics I posted, the only thing you can do is set deadzone limits!
My apologies if I came across a bit harsh, after re-reading my post I think I may have.
Thanks for trying to help though!

When ? With Win11 ?
If you want to try with the old joy.cpl to see if it works, I can send you a copy of mine.

I do have Windows 10, and it is up to date.
I typed in joy.cpl in the start menu.

What you see in the pics here, is what comes up from that command.
There are two selections, Advanced and Properties.
You can’t do anything in advanced except assign it to use with old programs.

Untitled1

The other is properties.
In calling up that, there is no square box, or calibration window when Saitek Rudders, Yoke or Throttle are used in the PC. The only thing that arises from using Properties is a screen to see what does work, (it looks like a calibration screen but you can’t calibrate with it, it is called TEST)

Untitled2

and another screen to set deadzones.

Untitled4

There was indeed a calibration screen in days gone by (I don’t remember when), I remember using it, but it hasn’t been there for some time now!
I have seen the calibration window show up in joy.cpl when other brands are plugged in, but not with Saitek.
This has been mentioned here in the forums a few times now, so I am fairly sure it can’t be done, at least with Saitek

Did you installed Saitek/Logitech drivers and/or software ?
If yes, delete them and try again. For once, Windows do the job well by itself.
If my neurons stills ok, I remember having the same a few years ago when I bought my yoke/quadrant for FSX, and it came from using Logitech drivers and/or the Logitech software for buttons programing.
On Logitech site there are utilities to remove Logitech datas from the register.

No, I am using windows drivers.
I don’t believe you can even get the old Saitek drivers anymore.
I used CCleaner to remove old registry entries.
Like I’ve mentioned, I don’t believe you can calibrate these in windows any more, without the use of a calibration tool.

I have seen Utube vids showing how to add a calibration app to Windows for Saitek, but it involves making several registry entry changes, and I’d rather not do that.

And another procedure on Avsim, but again I’d like to stay away from reg entries mods.
