For those who are not aware: Microsoft created a flightsimulator called FLIGHT. It was available for xbox and PC. The flying area was bound to a few locations as Hawai and Alaska. It only had prop planes. The fun thing was: you clicked an airport and a list would show with all kind of missions. Those missions were to transport goods or humans from location A to B. Once completed you would rank up in skill and transport would become more heavy and more diverse. What i really liked about FLIGHT was that it could be though! I had tiny landing strips on mountain sides with my plane fully loaded. First doing some fly overs to actually see the conditions and boyâŠtoo many times i had to go around or even crashed. Flight wise it was a LOT harder than FS 2020. The sounds were also very nice. Good voice overs, stories being told. Navigation either VFR or VOR incl ILS. And i miss that adventure component in FS 2020. The whole bushflying thing in FS 2020 is pre determinated and that is a shame. It would have been so nice if devs would designate bushflying areas were you could fly missions like in FLIGHT. It seems i cannot download FLIGHT anymore, which is a shame. I always enjoyed it.
Never played FLIGHT but I remember the âmissionsâ in MSFS 2004. The descriptions were short and sweet and there wasnât any scoring or confirmation you âwonâ but they were still a blast to play and I remember flying them over and over as a kid.
The open world sandbox is awesome, but I think we can also acknowledge it can be daunting. Where should I start? What are some of the most scenic/iconic/historic routes? You almost need to sit down and spend hours planning what you want to see/do.
All that is a long way of saying that sometimes itâs nice to be able to jump into a pre-built flight with a scenario. I would pay hand over fist for third party (or even AsoboâŠmaybeâŠ) missions.
Have you tried bush flights, discovery flights and landing challenges?
Also in the community thereâs lots of downloadable missions and trips:

flight was not on xbox, and you can strill get it , i think.
i played it last tiem about 2 years ago??? or so. google.
Yes to all 3.
Landing challenges are fun. I donât always see the logic in how they want you to approach the airport but Iâve completed them all and replay them as a distraction from time to time. They also introduced me to new airports I wouldnât have otherwise discovered. Keep âem coming.
The Discovery Flights have the least lasting appeal imo. You donât take off or land. I get why they exist and theyâre fine, but not something I go back to.
Bush trips: Hopefully the bush trips are fixed ASAP. Theyâre unplayable as of SU6.
Iâd like to see some variety outside bush trips as well. Some possible scenarios/missions:
- regional airline pilot
- international airline pilot/captain
- search and rescue (ex. spot the missing hikers)
- firefighting
- pilot on retainer for a celebrity or organization
- parabolic (Zero-G) flight (ex. youâve got astronaut trainees onboard)
- ariel refueling: both as the tanker and plane being fueled
- transport the space shuttle (piggyback on a NASA 747)
- bring back the Area 51/UFO chase from FSX
The possibilities are endless. I hope we see other areas of flight in the near future.
Iâm on Xbox
