A recent flight plan into Larnaca LCLK gave an approach ILS-S 22 as an extension of the runway but all Star 22 arrivals went to the LCA VORDME halfway down the runway.
What is the procedure for dealing with this? Any help appreciated.

Just fly direct to the start of the ILS from the previous point in the STAR. Or go visual fly the pattern and land. Or fly the pattern till the start of the ILS. ILS is just a guidance system to help you land you don’t have to utilise it.
Thats not really how IFR works though, if you are cleared for an ILS you can’t just deviate from it and start flying a visual pattern. You could in real life request a visual approach, which might or might not be possible.
To answer the OPs question, some conventional STARs terminate at the IAF which is located at the airport. On the approach plate the initial and intermediate approach are described, likely a “base turn” or flying the reciprocal followed by a “procedure turn”. Otherwise a “racetrack” is also possible.
I am by no means an expert, but looking at the approach charts, there are three ILS approaches to RW22.
VOR ILS RW22
DME ILS RW22
ILS RW22
The VOR and DME show that you overfly the airport before entering the approach. The ILS approach starts at the approach fix.
I’m guessing the first two apply more towards GA planes and not airliners…
Maybe you selected one of the first two, or maybe the nav database you are using isn’t completely accurate. Are you using Navigraph or the stock sim nav data?
I believe that’s the Daros 2 arrival. You’d enter a holding pattern using LCA VORDME then likely receive controller instructions to turn outbound than be vectored back in for the approach. The sim doesn’t support that kind of dynamic ATC routing yet.
frequently it say on the chart at the end of the STAR to fly vector xyz…and expe4ct ATC instructions to final approach.
In the Collins (CJ4) it show as discontinuity. If you fly without ATC just choose “direct” to the initial approach fix of the ILS at that point.
Thank you all for your comments they are really helpful. I use Littlenavmap for flight planning and also mainly fly with the CJ4-adding a hold with the Collins is my usual method if approaching runway heading from an acute angle.
It should be possible when finishing a STAR which says “Expect radar vectors” to request a vector to the next waypoint in the ATC menu. ATC should give you a heading to your IAF. For some reason, ATC won’t give you a vector unless you ask for it…
you can do that when you fly on Vatsim…
Thank you- I didn’t know that.
You don’t need a vector to your IAF, a STAR always terminates at the Initial Approach Fix (IAF), the transition from IAF to the Intermediate Fix (IF) could be via vectors.
