Is there a way to file a flight plan with altitude for ATC?
Yes for IFR flight plans you can set cruising altitudes in the Nav log when setting up your flight
The drop down tool bar nav log?
Does anyone else find the atc ignores your filed altitudes and asks you to go directly to your cruising altitude right away at your first waypoint?
I can’t recall exactly from memory but it’s somewhere on that page when you’re setting up your flight. I would look but I’m at work now. Maybe someone else can chime in with better info
As oST4VSo said, it’s in the World Map. But be aware that (for GA in
particular) ATC in the sim is notorious for ignoring your desired altitude. I’ve even had it try to send my C-172 to 14,000 ft for an 8 minute flight when setting up an IFR approach. I just ignore most of the altitudes they want to send me to, and put up with their griping that I’m at the wrong altitude (since most of the time I’m doing short flights. Would hate it if I were on a longer flight) and fly my transitions/approaches. ATC is better for IFR approaches once you get to the transition area it seem. Also, requesting lower altitudes from ATC seems to always be ignored by them. Lots of work to do, but I’m sure it will get some love eventually. Regards.
I selected SID and STAR in world map but ATC does not have me follow them. I am In TBM930. Do they not follow them in GA? For example. I gave BRDGE8 for STAR into St. Petersburg Florida but it has me going directly to airport. Not waypoints. Or do I have to activate it first for them to follow it?
might have been slow day at the airport and they gave you a direct the airport. Most pilots would be happy about that.
Would be nice to have ATC give a SID and STAR without me choosing it. I just left KSFO and it just had me head to one waypoint. Didn’t give me a SID so I did my own in the gps and followed it to the original waypoint i was told to go to
I was flying to KATL had filed and expected 28L, due to weather and the killer 3knt breeze, ATC gave me a different transition to 9L via RYENN transition.
Do you choose your approach in world map? I choose a STAR and leave approach on automatic.
I selected rwy 28l and it gave me the Jedi STAR when selecting the to and from at the start, then it changed just as I about to enter the starwars named waypoints. I will try again with me selecting weather with wind from the east to see if it replicates it.
I like to start cold and dark. I choose the ramp and let ATC give me the runway then I just have to manually load and activate it in the gps and I fly it. But I’ve never selected the runway and STAR when setting up a flight
how can one setup an ifr flight plan when you are already in the aircraft?
