Flight plan is a dotted line in Fenix A320

Hi, I have a question regarding the fenix a320.
So when I start a flight and I turn on the autopilot, the flight plan on the navigation display is a dotted line instead with of a continuous one. Because of that the autopilot isn’t able to take any turn by itself and it requires me to change the heading. Why does it do that and how can I fix it?

I suggest you watch one of the many tutorials on YouTube. I can recommend the creator “Waypoints Aviation”. Succinct, to the point and with a bit of humor. Real A320 pilot. He has videos on cold&dark startup, MCDU/FMS programming and auto flight modes.

Thanks, I’ll try that

You’re in heading mode, so the AP is going to follow the heading you have dialed in.

If you want to use NAV mode, on the FMS, direct to that waypoint and then it will continue on from there.

My guess is the SID you flew had a vector / manual section and there is a discontinuity. So you would fly the manual / vectored headings, and then direct to a waypoint.

So in that example, just direct to and away you go.

When starting, flying manually for some time (maybe half a minute or minute) and trying to make the autopilot follow the programed flight route it will in 90% of the time don´t do that - because it cannot find the SID anymore nor the first waypoint

You press DIR (for direct to → ) and enter the letters of the first waypoint you see on the navigation display in front of the Airbus somewhere (while having the WPT button on the autopilot panel active to make the waypoints visible).

If you press heading managed on the autopilot now it will steer direct to the entered and activated waypoint, and continue to follow the complete flight path now like it should.

Hello @LucaGrigoroiu ,
I have moved your topic to Aviate, Navigate, Communicate , which is the area for support.
Also, we encourage all users to use a title that others can search on. I have updated your title.

Thanks a lot:):+1:t3:

It’s too easy! If your FD is off, turn it on!!!

Here is switched ON the Flight Director!

No, that would not cause the issue the OP is referring to (which is marked as solved). You can also clearly see in his video the FD is on.
