There must be something else going on if you have almost filled 1TB with only MSFS. When you check the whats using the storage in the Xbox system, is it all MSFS? Even with all of the World updates I’m under 200 GB.
Not any time soon. Remember updates aren’t all additional, some of them replace exiting files. If a WU is 10Gb for example, you’ve enough space for 50 of them. And typically they only release 5 or 6 a year. The console will have died long before then. Don’t worry and enjoy your flying
The reality is, yes, if World Updates keep coming it’s entirely possible we will hit our storage capacity of the Xbox. This is made worse if you’re also purchasing and downloading Marketplace Content.
Like you, I’ve only got MSFS installed on one of my Xboxes. My install is currently at 311.9GB. I’ve got the Premium Deluxe Edition, all World Updates, and significant amount of Marketplace Content, too.
What I don’t know is if the Xbox OS can utilize a storage expansion card to spread the install across the internal and external storage. My suspicion is is cannot, but I don’t know that for sure.
Regarding “WU11” I’m fairly sure you’re misreading that as 11 rather than II, which is WUII or WU2. The USA received two World Updates, II and X, so you’d want both installed if you’re interested in what they offer.
That depends. They used to come more frequently, but now they’ve throttled their releases back to, maybe, twice a year? We’re set to get one here in March.
I have an expansion card on my other Xbox, and I’ve thought about seeing how I could split the install on my “simming” Xbox.
I’ve fiddled with the storage management options on the Xbox, but the issue is you can move/copy a game to/from a storage device, but what you don’t seem to be able to do is move the “Reserved Space” to/from a storage device. This Reserved Space is where all downloaded content is saved, along with individual aircraft custom camera settings, a few select sim options and the Rolling Cache data, if you have that enabled.
Yes, but until I do fill the internal storage, I can’t test this theory. It would be brilliant if the OS was able to manage splitting that Reserved Space across two storage devices, but I just don’t know if it can.
Of course, as @XR219 said, we do have the option of purchasing a 2TB expansion card (I’ve got the 1TB), but the cost is $360 right now and that is not cheap. It’s cheaper than a new PC or a second Series X, but it isn’t an inexpensive solution for some.
Yep, but my point is that with 500 GB left, there at least a couple of years left on the current storage.
Remember the current usage includes the original sim, plus 2 and a half years worth of updates.
