Several days ago when I started Flight Simulator a new startup screen appeared. When that screen closed it looked like normal startup with dark screen. The version in the upper left corner was 1.16.2.0
After several seconds it crashed to desktop. After having tried a number of fixes I have made no progress! The Event Viewer shows an error:
Was this module corrupted by a Win10 update or the automatic Simulator update? Since I am not a power user I could use some advise as to what steps to take. I have running FS2020 for months now with no problems.
Exactly the same here. Yesterday afternoon, I was getting this error. Then, I tried again in the evening and the sim loaded no problem. (Having changed nothing). Now I’m back to this error. Will keep looking for answers.
Thanks for that tip! Removing Toolkit and rebooting got Flight Sim working again. I recall seeing a recent update to Toolkit, that’s probably what did it. Hopefully will be fixed eventually.
I ended up uninstalling the game and couldn’t reinstall from the Microsoft store. The guy on the phone advised me to download the windows iso file which I did or he did as he took control of my computer. That’s all he did. He also uninstalled my bullguard anti virus software before he installed the iso file. This has allowed me to reinstall the game.
My MSFS is working again.
He told me the 3rd party anti virus software was stopping it. So again maybe uninstall third party anti virus software as he said windows defender is enough and the download the windows iso file
That’s one of the things I tried that did not work for me! I use Kaspersky but disabling it and using defender did not fix the crash. Good to hear you have a solution! My understanding is the Windows iso file is used for a clean install of Win10.
This will not solve all problems but after last update I could not get MSFS to get past the black screen w/ white border. I reinstalled no luck, I was pulling what hair I have left out. I found out what it was by playing around. It was SeaTools backup that I’ve had for months. Shut it off and all was good to go. Switched to another backup program, no problem.
Hi. After reading the note from Tony180587 above, I just uninstalled Bullguard and MSFS now works perfectly again. I didn’t even have to download the Windows ISO file.
