Good morning
(Flight Simulator 2020 : Transforme ta Webcam en dispositif TrackIR - YouTube)
I tested and made it work on my PC as it was stated on the YouTube video and it works very well at home I’m on Windows 10 with flight Simulator 2020, the only thing is that I did not find as it says the File Flight simulator.exe, but I put only by default and its working, here I hope you like it and it’s free
Is that the one that uses FaceTrackNoIr?
If so, be careful with it. FaceTrackNoIr has been causing many people a lot of issues in the past.
I do speak a little french but that is simply too much and too fast for me
Maybe someone can add subtitles
Use Options/SubtitlesCC Change OFF to French Autogenerated, then select AutoTranslate & English from the dropdown list. Et Voila!
@MortThe2nd It is a newish headtracker that is used along with OpenTrack. Since it appears to use visible light, for facetracking, I doubt that it will work too well if your webcam has been modified to detect IR trackers. This also means that it may have problems if you prefer to fly in dim lighting conditions.
EDIT: Just tried it with very dim light and glow from the screen. It seems to work OK, but not as smooth as my current headtracker…
I Didn’t do an in depth setup because I already have head tracking usin IR & a modified PS2Go webcam. (Trackhat setup).

I have used both FaceTrackNoIR with webcam, and the SmoothTrack App on iOS with OpenTrack. My experience clearly demonstrated that using SmoothTrack with iPhone cameras are much, much better than using FaceTrackNoIR with webcams. The latter was extremely unstable and I could never enjoy it. Once I switched to SmoothTrack with iPhone, it met my expectations although I found tuning of some mapping curves would make it more enjoyable.
I guess the reason of such big contrast is because iPhone cameras are way better than so called HD webcams. This was actually mentioned by the SmartTrack developer as his excuse for not planing to make a version of his program for webcams on PC. When I used webcam, I had to turn on my room light to create enough lightening for it, otherwise it would lose track of my face. However, using iPhone camera I can now play in a dark room with only light from my PC screen. This is actually quite important for me because I don’t like to play late at night in a room with bright light on.
Yah… but all you need for FREE headtracking is a £1000 phone…
Seriously though, If Illumination is a problem, and your screen is so dim that it doesn’t light up your face, then a few IR leds, a battery (or an easily made USB power lead), and some wire are all you need to light you up. Mind you, if you go that far, a home made IR Headtracker that you can use wouthout risking your phone is just a small step away. Especially if you have a baseball cap you want to sacrifice.
Most people already got smart phone with decent cameras. Also not all smart phones are that expensive. My old iPhone SE with very abysmal quality front camera worked perfectly with Smooth Track.
There’s no risk whatsoever to damage smartphone either. Not like webcams or IR trackers that must be placed on top of monitor, I can leave my iPhone on the desk, and it didn’t have to directly face me as long as it’s front camera can see my whole face. So I can place it on one side of monitor, and even let its side stay on the desk (while letting its back stays very stable on a book or so to create an angle for its front camera to see my face).
