I’m only going to comment on the Nvidia settings you talk about

  1. The easy way to delete shader cache is to run disk cleaner on drive C.

  2. The video super res. does nothing for FlightSim. It’s a video upscaler for Youtube and VLC. The AI upscaler on MSFS is called DLSS, and you select it ingame in settings.

  3. If you /actually/ want some more performance, look up “under volt” for your CPU name and for your GPU name, on youtube. You undervolt your CPU in bios and your GPU in MSI afterburner.

I’m getting really tired of seeing youtubers offering advice on things that they’re clearly clueless about.

Was going to mention the RTX video thing but that’s been covered.

I will add that - unless I see actual evidence to the contrary - claiming the power management mode prefer maximum performance is ‘really important’ appears to be absolute nonsense. The only reason anyone thinks this is true is because of videos just like this one.

Does not delete all shaders

It works when using Nvidia filters inside the sim

“3. If you /actually/ want some more performance, look up “under volt” for your CPU name and for your GPU name, on youtube. You undervolt your CPU in bios and your GPU in MSI afterburner.”

In the video - I show that Nvidia have a new feature to overclock their cards - from within its own software - making sure you dont void a warranty

In MSFS2020 - the difference between both power management modes - which is also noted on Zendesk ( How to improve the performance – Microsoft Flight Simulator Support)

It made a positive impact on my system when using max performance. Some users have windows settings that will limit the GPU due to power saving options - selecting Prefer Max Performance - overrides this setting.

So to say “Im clearly clueless” - well, ok then

The zendesk article makes absolutely no reference to the power management setting. The highlighted text regards making sure the discrete GPU is used when the system has CPU-integrated graphics.

So all you’ve got is purely anecdotal evidence and yet still feel it’s necessary to state - with absolutely no caveats - that it’s ‘really important’ for power management to be set to prefer maximum performance. This despite the overwhelming consensus appearing to be that it makes no positive difference whatsoever.
