Brief description of the issue:

When starting Flight Simulator I get this message: the program or feature’??\c:\program files\windows apps\microsoft.flight simulator_1.37.19.0_x64_8wekyb3d8bbwe\flight simulator.exe cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64 bit versions of windows.
This problem started yesterday before that the sim was running perfectly. I didn’t do anything to the sim but I have not been able to start the Microsoft Store and I cannot access the Nvidia Control Panel. I bought a digital version of Deluxe Premium from Newegg.com

A big part of the problem is that my Mirosoft Store does not come on. I have not yet found a solution that works for me. Also I am not a member of windows gaming insider. I think if I could just get the MS Store to work correctly I could get this fixed. I did go through that other post. I didn’t see anything in it that I could use with confidence. Most of it did have to do with Insider. Also that topic was over 2 years old. That’s why I started a new one.
My Nvidia graphics and Windows 11 are up to date. Is there any way to update gaming services without going to the MS Store?

Look in settings>apps> Microsoft Store, open it and select repair.

I would also run
DISM & SFC
Search net for instructions.

Thanks for the suggestion but I have tried all of those solutions to no avail.

I had a problem (not this specific one) after a Windows Update.
Was everything working well after your most recent update?

As of a few days ago I don’t get that message, it just does not start at all.

Am I the only one that has this problem? I have never had a problem running The Sim on my Windows 11 PC which is 64 bit. Why is all of a sudden running the sim on a 64 bit system incompatible? I am going to reinstall Windows 11 soon in hopes of getting the MS Store back, getting Nvidia Control Panel running and getting xbox back on my PC. I am hoping I won’t have to reinstall the Sim, huge amount of GB.

Hi @TDog7949 ,
Can you open the Xbox App (Start | All Apps | Xbox)? If so, click on the user icon in the top left-hand corner, click “Settings”, then “About.”

Under “Version”, select & copy each of the version information lines that are shown & post them to this topic. e.g.:

2407.1001.1.0
22.91.10001.0 (Gaming Services)
7.124.5142.0 (Game Bar)

The versions above are what I am currently seeing on my PC. The first line s for the Xbox App itself.

As a part of a procedure to get a new xbox app I uninstalled the one that was on my PC. I found the xboxinstaller app but when I run it I get an error that says Looks Like Something Went Wrong We weren’t able to install the app (0x80070002). This evening I am going to do a clean install of Windows 11 on this PC. I am disableing my other drives that have my flight sim and lots of other stuff so the windows installation won’t bother them. I am hoping this will restore the MS Store and xbox.

Had a similar problem some weeks ago. I restored Windows using the latest restore point. That did the trick for me. Before going through the pain of a clean install maybe it is worth trying that. Good luck!

It isn’t simple. I was not able to use the restore points I had. When I tried I got error messages about some file that couldn’t be extracted from the restore point data. I tried 3 restore points and 1 system image all gave the same error. When I try the wsreset.exe get an error that says We can’t open the windows store link. You need a new app. When I run those commands in powershell to reinstall the MS Store I get error messages. I have tried several times to reinstall windows from a USB with no luck. It starts like it’s going to do something then just stops and the screen goes black. I am working with Microsoft on this currently. I’ve tried 2 different USBs, multiple USB ports and different methods. No luck. Except for not being able to reinstall windows, No MS Store, No xbox, no Invidia Control Panel and no flight Sim, my computer is working perfectly. Everything else seems to be fine. I think if I can get windows reinstalled some of the other stuff like the Store and xbox may get fixed in the process. I have to be carefull with the windows install because I don’t want it to mess with any of my other drives, programs and files including the current C: drive. I have a blank SSD that I am trying to install the windows on. So it’s bad.

That sounds really bad. I’m sorry for you. Good luck. I hope you get it running soon.

I was able to restore my PC form a system image, but had to go back to 5/17/2024. The MS Store and xbox are back in my dierectory. When I open xbox it does say that it needs to be updated. But it sends me to the MS Store to do that. Here’s the problem, Even though I got my MS Store app back it still does not work. When I try to update or install any app, during the download it stops and says “Something went wrong on our end, try again later.” It doesn’t matter how long I wait the same thing happens. So the question is, is there any other way to update the xbox app besides the MS Store? Apparently I am not the only one having problems with the MS Store. A Google search turns up many situations like mine. I have not seen a solution that works to fix it. Trying to fix MS Store is what did my computer in and I don’t want that to happen again. I don’t even know if a complete reinstall of the sim will fix the problem.

I have now reinstalled Windows 11. The MS Store still does not update or download apps. When I try to run the Simulator, I get an error about not being able to run on a 64 bit computer. What?? When I attempt to open the xbox app it comes on and says it needs to be updated. I click update and it goes to the MS Store to do the update. I get the same old error. Something went wrong on our end. We are working to fix it. error 0x80070002. So it’s a vicious cycle. The Store won’t work, the xbox won’t update, the Simulator won’t run. I can’t reinstall the simulator without xbox, I can’t run the sim without xbox, the store does not work. If it’s on their end, why don’t they fix it? I started this topic using the error report template, but I have not heard a word from the developers.

TDog7949 - Have you found any solution for your problem? The exact same thing has happened to me today. Can’t start MSFS 2020, Can’t start MS Store, Can’t start Xbox and if I go to Xbox online with a link to update it, it tries to go to MS Store with an error of" “Something went wrong on our end, try again later.” The event viewer also shows I can’t tun MSFS 2020 on my 64 bit computer. Everything was working perfect yesterday. The symptoms are exactly the same to the letter. Did you get any response from MS support? ( this all started today after I tried to download the new 24H2 OS, but it gave me BSOD’s, so I reverted back to 23H2 and this is when the issue began.

I’m getting the same thing flight simulator 2024 runs fine It just creates that pop up upon launch.
I’m on Windows 11 24 H2 and MSFS 2024 has the most recent update

About a month ago my XBox app miraculously came to life and so did Flight Simulator. This was great until yesterday. The latest update refused a couple of drivers as vulnerable. They were iqvw64e.sys and iomap64.sys. I think these drivers are required for XBox because as of that update my Xbox app is not working and neither is Flight Simulator. So I guess I have to wait for another miracle. I don’t have any idea why it started working. I was in the habit of just giving it a try every other day or so and one day it started. WOW.

Had the same problem after a Windows 11 update, after trying Lots of things without succes.
I logged out of the Xbox app and the Store and rebooted my PC. After the reboot i logged back in the store and then the Xbox app FS2020 was fine again. Hope this will help.
