First. I’m actually more a gamer since a simmer but willing to learn. Therefore I would like to know, if you have a flight plan like this. Does it means you have to do the loop or do the loop when you need it? Is the loop is meant to fly everytime in cause of getting down slowly and having enough time for landing preparation?
A fantastic question. I’d assumed it was to keep arriving aircraft tidy and prevent them bumping into each other. In the sim we have world altering agency but even so it’s good for reasons of immersion to follow good practice, yes? Or is there more to it?
I’m more a simmer than a gamer and have had a private pilot license in real life, albeit a long time ago!
The flight plan illustrated by your screenshot shows an entry into the airport pattern by overflying the runway, turning and descending to pattern altitude to the crosswind leg.
You would typically fly at least 500 ft (It depends on the size and speed of your aircraft,) above the pattern altitude at 1500 ft Above Ground Level (AGL) and go to TRDP1 > TRDP2 turn to TRDP3 proceed back to TRDP2 then descend to 1000 ft back at TRDP1. Then turn onto the down wind leg and complete the base and final legs to land.
In real life operations the entry point to a traffic pattern depends on your heading to the airport. There are many references on the internet where you can learn these things.
However, in the game you can do whatever you want!
hey,
you fly to TRDP1 then right to BASE then left to FINAL and land. The TRDP2 - TRDP3 is there if you miss the landing or you have to abort landing approach then you fly TRDP2+3 to TRDP1 and turn LEFT to BASE - FINAL and land.
