Flightsimulator.exe access denies

Hi,

when I go to my Nvidia control panel and want to set Flight simulator, I have a denied access. I am logged as a Admin and have all rights.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks, Martin

I am experiencing the same, also in Nvidia Inspector. However, with the current drivers there should already be a “Microsoft Flight Simulator” profile included that you can simply select from the drop-down list in the control panel without the need to select the EXE file manually. I haven’t tinkered with any settings there so far and am not sure whether the stock profile will be able to determine your recognize your MSFS directory automatically, but maybe it is worth a try.

Being administrator in Windows does not mean you have all permissions, only that you can get all permissions. That is, you have to go to the permissions page of the .exe file’s properties and give your user the rights to do whatever the nVidia control panel is trying to do.

If you have the Windows Store version, the .exe is in %PROGRAMFILES%\WindowsApps\Microsoft.Flightsimulator* (folder name goes on for a bit). To get there, you have to give yourself permissions for WindowsApps first.

All this can of course wreck your system, please don’t blame me if it does.

Yeah same problem, tried taking ownership of files folders etc still no joy. Wanted to add it to either Nvidia experiences Steam launcher so I can Stream to Nvidia shield (which works a treat btw even if I have to manually launch it ;(

No. You can’t access Windows Store game files even if you’ve taken ownership of the folder tree. Try it. I think these files are encrypted.

You didn’t need the exe file for the Nvidia panel.
It is already in the app list.

You are right. I think few days ago it was not there, but now it is. Problem solved.
Thanks.

The problem is not resolved for me as I need to add it to the Nvidia Shield GameStream window, and it is not allowing me to ;(

i still have same issue:

flightsimulator.exe is not accessable!

what i like to try is to add the App in the GFX Power Otimization, like i did with the former Alpha/Beta:

I think it has to do with that i have the mfs on my D:\ Drive
So it could be an security issue

there is kinda strange entry: “WIN://APPID Contains***” ???

Also 2 unknown accounts

if i like to make some changes, e.g. like the fullscreen optimizations, to the .exe i also get an error

I sent the game back. It is not usable. You cannot add the exe in various other programs. I’m ■■■■■■ off

The problem is back! For MSStore version!
