yep, I’m probably stuck in the old romantic times of flightsim when addon devs shared other people’s pleasure of flying their aircraft instead of throwing sales and installers at you almost compelling you to purchase ^^ Times have changed..
Chances are great he lives in a first world country. What other kind of problems should he have? ![]()
I second it though. I’ve got one app, Orbx. I’m not getting another. I just don’t want the clutter. I’d prefer the marketplace. My problem with multiple apps is different though - and it’s definitely a first world problem. I have enough dlc I can’t remember them all - and then have to go searching. That does have more to do with scenery though. I can usually remember my aircraft ![]()
I’ve got a spreadsheet I have to update every time I buy something, which includes a link to where I purchased it and what version it is
![]()
Don’t give me ideas!
I already have a spreadsheet for aircraft. I really enjoy the community fly-ins they have every Friday and they say “bring a plane that can cruise at 120 kts” or w/e. That way I can be sure to take something interesting and won’t forget a plane or three. Now if you ask me, “Do you have xyz plane?” I’ll 100% be able to say yes or no.
Anyway, don’t meat to carry this too far off topic. This aircraft does look nice. Not sure it’s one I HAVE to have though.
Guess what guys… I just look in the numerous Apps I have and save myself the time! The add-on is bound to be in one of them. No need for spreadsheets and messing around.
OrbX
Simmarket
Aerosoft One
Contrail
FSDT Installer
IniBuilds
Phew its a long list!
The simmarket app is not about selling or making money, all the Apps try to sell to you. The Simmarket app does 2 things really well.
-
It makes knowing about product updates easier and faster, no waiting for that email that has gone into to spam.
-
It mostly does on click installs, if no Serial number is needed. So it does not even read your S/N.
All stores have done some shady stuff, I have seen it from FS98 till now. Also despite what you think and what you have heard from people who parrot the misinformation, Simmarket has done more for the hobby and exposure for new devs then you will ever know.
It really isn’t an issue.
I guess I kinda derailed the thread by mentioning my preference not to use the SimMarket app in the first place
Sorry!
I’m enjoying the screenshots by @Saltash53 though. The details on that interior are really quite nice. Loving those welding joints!
Has anyone else notice the choke does nothing. i flew around with it on the whole flight and engine never cut out.
Just a minor thing , but disappointing its not working properly.
The “choke”?
the engine choke used in start up. Usually if you leave it on it will eventually kill the engine.
Do you mean the fuel primer?
Or do you mean the mixture control?
Or do you mean the “Carb Heat”?
The mixture control would be the closest to what would be considered a choke, which, in my parent’s cars was a typically temperature controlled flap on the carburetor to “choke” the flow of air through the venturi as a way of controlling the fuel to air ratio when the engine was cold. It could be integrated with the throttle, so the throttle flap on the carburetor would change how much it opened depending on engine (typically coolant) temperature, or a separate flap. But mixture control doesn’t seem to be what you’re saying, since you would want to leave that “on” for the whole flight?
It sounds more like the primer is what you’re saying, which you use to squirt a little fuel into the cylinders to help the cylinders fire when starting. Yes, assuming it’s a manual primer, leaving the pump “arm” open or unlocked can cause problems, at least for some planes. I don’t know whether this would be a problem for this plane? But a primer wouldn’t be called a “choke”, so I’m confused.
Or maybe the fuel pump (which one could leave on the entire flight, but that wouldn’t normally kill the engine)? But I can’t see how you would equate the fuel pump to a choke.
Carb heat isn’t normally used when starting an engine, so I don’t think that’s what you’re saying, and leaving it open throughout flight would only mean the engine would be producing slightly less power since the fuel mixture is warmer, it wouldn’t kill it, unless you sat at idle for a long time.
If you mean the primer “leaking” not being modeled, I wouldn’t consider that to be a major issue with the plane. Look whippersnapper, we’re lucky to have primers modeled in planes (even when they don’t actually do anything), it wasn’t always that way, at least we can play with it ![]()
Sorry, I’m old. I have to amuse myself sometimes… ![]()
The Rans S6-S doesn’t have Mixture control , carb heat, and no fuel primer. Its a real basic plane.
But it does have a engine choke right below the throttle on the main middle panel.
You can pull it out to 100% and it doesn’t seem to have any effect on the engine. Not a big deal just stating that it doesn’t work…maybe in a update ![]()

Got it yesterday from inibuilds.. holy mary what a BEAUTIFUL 3D model. Probably the most beautifully modelled addon I’ve ever had across all sims, DCS included. That’s some insane detail. The flightmodel is really great as well, it’s a real pleasure to fly it in VR. I replaced the default airplane in the PNG bushtrip with the Rans and fly it with that plane. What a great feeling. I’m totally in love and I’m hard to impress in flightsim xD
Absolutely fantastic plane. Never thought I would get hooked on it but alas it looks sounds flies and rolls like a champ. Plus it’s priced right and easy to get people into the sim flying. Easy to learn but hard to master I love it.
Flyboy did a great job and shameless plug to 61Tree Liveries for this bird. Well done fellas!
Couldn’t agree more. Fantastic aircraft for MSFS.
Another recommendation here.
This is modelled to such a high standard, it really needs to be seen by everybody who likes this type of aircraft. The attention to detail is second to none and I find myself looking at it all over, internally and externally, while I’m letting it warm up. As well as what others have mentioned in terms of detail, there’s a nice way to check the fuel (transparent pipe with visible fuel). Some nice sounds have been added too.
Of course, having an excellent model is only half the story, but it’s a joy to fly too. No idea about realism, but it certainly has a different feel to it than other lightweights, but it’s not hard to control.
I’ve been flying a lot with the Sting S4 and the S6S is definitely on a par with that in terms of attention to detail and pure joy to fly. The Sting would win if you wanted maintenance options (I got through brake pads a lot when I first bought it). I wouldn’t like to choose if I could only have one. Luckily I don’t have to, and they’re different enough for me to enjoy both regularly, even though I would use them for the same scenarios.
I’ve only seen it on simmarket and inibuilds, I hope it comes to the marketplace to get a wider audience.
I only recently had an email-conversation with the developer about this, and he said it is definitely coming to the marketplace for both PC and Xbox. But as you can imagine, the release date is not in his hands..
Ah, that’s good news.
There’s not many videos on YouTube for this plane, hopefully some of the bigger names will give it some exposure too.
Just updated -
Version 1.2
- Autopilot capability added
- Change between analog/digital cockpit
- Foldable map/chart (when in analog cockpit)
- New liveries
- Updated textures
- Fully functional circuit breakers
I bought the Rans S6S following on from a review by q8 pilot. I must say the flight model is by far the best I have experienced in MSFS to date. It finds a way to smooth out the unrealistic jerky (mathematical) nature of the MSFS atmosphere and replaces the flight movement with a more fluid feel, much like the real world! Also the sense of inertia + more nuanced characteristics such as adverse yaw are all in here. Amazing detail on this plane also, including sounds. Very immersive. I flew low and slow along the river between Concrete and Darrington in PNW. I feel like I have just gotten back from a camping holiday!
