FlyByWire A320NX Development Version Updates

Over the past week I have had the installer install updates for the development version, one a couple of days ago and another today. However, when looking, I cannot find a change log or information pertaining to what is being updated. The manifest in the AC’s folder shows version 0.7.0-dev. Is there a place I can go to find information pertaining to the updates for the dev version? I have checked on discord but was unable to find any information pertaining to updates for the dev version and looking at github netted the same. Perhaps I am just missing it?

I’d post to discord but I care not to use my cell phone on there, just my personal preference.

Cheers!

FBW maintains a changelog file in their repository, but I’m not sure how often it’s updated or if it’s exhaustive.
Check it here:

Thanks, Neo!

Looks like another update came today as well. :grinning:

Neo4316,

Quick question (not related to above subject) - how do you create the smooth zooming of the outside camera in the beginning of your videos?

Thanks,
Kaptajnen

Can you show me which video you’re referring to and at which time in that video?

The video where you are flying to Nagasaki would be one of them…

You mean that very beginning of the video with the “Ready to Fly” button visible? That’s just coming from the game Camera settings I believe. Just set them to use Cinematic Opening (or something like that). If you have this off, when you start the flight the camera would already be in the cockpit before you press the “Ready to Fly” button.

If you’re referring how I smoothly transition between cockpit and wing views. That’s because I bound the camera command to my joystick. So basically, the sim has 2 camera mode “set”. A set of Cockpit and External Camera… And another set of Drone and Fixed Camera.

If you press the button to switch to External Cam. You’re actually switching between the modes within each set. So if you’re currently in the Cockpit/External set, pressing the button will cycle you through between Cockpit, then External cam. Similarly, if you’re on the Drone set, pressing that same button will cycle you through between Drone and Fixed cam.

Now the camera command of “Toggle Drone Cam” is not exactly meaning it will always go to drone cam. It’s actually used to “Switch” between these two sets. So I use that button to switch to Drone Cam, then press the button from the one above to cycle between Drone Cam to Fixed Cam. Then I use the Next/Previous Fixed Cam button to cycle through the various wing views or fixed camera angle. Once I got the fixed cam that I’m happy with. I press the same Toggle Drone Cam button to switch back to my cockpit cam. So whenever I press the Toggle Drone Cam button afterwards, it will just cycle me between cockpit and wing cam instantly.

I wish you would make a video explaining and teaching us how to do that. I just can’t get the hang of cameras.

Thank you very much.

One more unrelated question. How do I flip the transparent shield down. I forgot the name, but it lets me see speed, altitude etc. I have clicked all around the shield but unable to get it to find the magic spot that makes it come down

Do you mean the HUD (Heads Up Display) ? The FBW A320 does not have a HUD. The button is not even there for it I don’t think.

Yep that’s it…the HUD… you can see it up there and I am sure I have used it, since it FWB is the only aircraft I fly…

If you say so. I have never seen it though. Cheers.

You are absolutely right!

It is not yet implemented on the A32NX, although it is an Airbus standard feature.

The HUD is NOT a standard feature in any Airbus. According to Airbus’ own website it is listed as a system upgrade and only available from MSN3000 and later

The HUD is not a standard feature in the A320. They’re an optional refit that airlines are free to add them to their order. And also given the option to any aviation governing body to have them installed if needed. For example, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has made it mandatory for all Chinese Airlines to be equipped with the HUD. But that would require them to opt for the HUD to be installed in all of their aircraft. Yet it’s not a standard feature that will always be installed in all aircraft coming out of Airbus.

That being said, it’s not implemented in the A32NX yet. And I’m not sure if it ever will. I already posted an enhancement request to have it, but I do understand that it’s not a simple feature to implement, as you require additional cockpit modelling to create, the animation of flipping it down, as well as the display overlay itself to make it both sync with the PFD, the information that it needs to display, as well as the collimation effect that it needs to have.

That shield that you see in the A32NX overhead cockpit. That’s not the HUD. That’s just a sun glareshield that sits in front of your eyes to filter the sunlight. That’s why it’s coloured brown.

Why are there no updates for the experimental version any more for so long time?

I believe they are working on a major change which will take a lot of coding right now

Thank you for clearing that up.
