Flying float planes

Don’t know about the rest of you but the sim needs some major work when it comes to the way float planes handle on the water .You take off and it continually bounces and won’t go on step ,surprised i can’t find any posts on this ,Louis

It’s been discussed at length, pretty much every time a new seaplane is released.

Ok thanks, kinda of thought it would of been, just couldn’t find any thing on it .

Thanks for bringing this subject up again. Floatplanes seem to be totally ignored at the moment. Taxying on water is also still a joke.

Seems.to me they dont bounce under 60kts tje goose, icon, 172, and all the cub type aircraft can all be landed at under 60kt. For most they can all get airborne at ot near 60kt, the 172 and goose need to come up and have shallow climb outs until they get a bit of speed built up before clawing up. There’s no taking into account the weight or hull shape(s), the bouncing just starts a that speed. I have no issues with water handling with the water rudders down, the goose is the laziest and fells realistic with the rudder “helpers” and differential throttles

I’m confident there gonna fix it . Opened some sea bases with On Air and the the twin otter is major hard to maneuver.

After months of working on the Kodiak floats, we actually had the bizarre situation at one point that the floats were perfectly smooth on land but vibrating like crazy as soon as they touched water

Asobo have said that they will be reworking the water physics, but that it’s not a priority.

they really should make it one - since as stated - there are float planes and flying boats here already..
but then they really didn’t have a good global flight model for over a year after the sim had airplanes in it.

Yeah, unfortunately I’ve almost completely ignored the float planes because of that. I do rarely fly them but never land or take off from water.

A guy i fly with On Air tried a different float plane instead on the amphibian twin otter and says it flies totally better and handles way better with just floats only .And he’s put in the update beta and trying it out says its unreal how good its gonna be
