Flying with Daughter

My daughter and I had the opportunity to ferry a Kodiak 100 this week. Might be the only time that the two us will be able to fly together as a crew. She’s a flight instructor getting ready to head off to the airlines.
It was the most memorable day in my 35 years of aviation.

4hr flight with a mix of IFR and beautful clear skies.

That’s awesome. I’ve done this with my dad. Very memorable experience.

That’s a great experience for you both and best wishes for her career.

I’d be interested in your thoughts on how the Kodiak in the real world translates into the MSFS model, if you’ve tried that product. It’s one of my favourite aircraft to fly in both MSFS and XP11.

Yes, I have flown the SWS version quite a bit, I helped out with the flight model. It has been tweaked quite a bit since the initial release.

I don’t find the Kodiak a pleasant airplane to hand fly, it’s heavy in pitch and requires a lot of trimming.

I flew a Caravan once many, many years ago and I seem to remember it was much nicer to hand fly, like a turbine powered 172.

Don’t get me wrong, the Kodiak is a great airplane, lots of power with amazing STOL capabilities.

I only fly the Kodi occasionally, most of the time I’m on a Falcon 2000LXS

Thanks for those great insights. Very interesting.

Maybe I’m just spoiled by flying the Falcon all the time. It’s truly spectacular. Fly it with your finger tips.
