Flysimware Cessna 414A

Can someone help me shed some light on the fuel burn of this aircraft? Following the numbers at FL200 at 2300 rpm and MP of 25.5, I’m seeing a total fuel burn of close to 295 lbs/hr. The manual says “Total” lbs/hr at that should be 141. So, does the manual mean total per engine because that would be weird phrasing in my book. Also, at this economy cruise setting the best I could get by my calculations would be around 750nm with IFR reserves, and that’s a stretch!

I’m loving the plane, but just trying to figure out realistic expectations and distance in this thing. The manual says normal range of 1046nm, and I can’t figure out how I would achieve that safely. Also, this article 414 Chancellor | Cessna Owner Organization says about 17 gal/hr per engine in cruise which is roughly 122 lbs/hr. Any help and real world numbers would be greatly appreciated!

Looks like you are having the same issue as I am. I emailed them on Thursday and still no response. Very disappointing for a $40 aircraft!

In options, misc, change your setting to US from metric or hybrid if it isn’t already. That is causing issues in performance and will be fixed soon I imagine.

I encountered the same issue and reported it. I forgot to check at the end of the flight to see if the bug is in the fuel computer or if it really is burning that much, but either way it is off by a factor of about 2.

It’s true that for 40 dollars, even if it’s in beta, we expect that at least the installation goes well. Oh my, but today they answered me in less than 4 hours. They advised me to install it without an internet connection’ but second problem is that I’ve reached the activation number for this period, I despair. Try on your side without internet connection to see if it works for you

The developer knows about it.

I switched to the GTN750 panel and it made all the difference.

I think the fuel burn has been inadvertently doubled, or close to it.

That’s been reported as well.

The developer (one of them perhaps?) is on a dedicated thread over at AVSim. He responds in hours, sometimes in minutes. Maybe help can be had there?

Awesome thanks! Glad to know it’s not just my imagination.

I am beginning to think that they wanted to get this out quickly and at a $10 lower "introductory " price before before many of the basic issues have been corrected because several other twins are supposed to be released within the next 2 weeks. And as several of you have stated there’s several issues with even getting the aircraft to download! It’s been 4 days now and no email response from the makers…which also leads me to believe that they don’t have a fix for the download problems. …or they have thousands of problem emails.
I regret purchasing this.
The so called “beta” H145 was miles ahead (I was so impressed with the H145 that I purchased a cyclic, collective, and… as if I really needed another set of rudder pedals…custom anti-torque pedals)
of the basic issues when released … it’s turned out to be one of my favorite aircraft…and I don’t say that lightly. I am a real life pilot (private with an instrument rating) with over 1800 hours…so I really enjoy a aircraft that look like and performs like real…and get real disappointed if it fails the basic functions.

https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/QvZEXUXRaWA For the sound is wrong guys …

From my testing, I’m fairly certain that the problem is with the fuel computer, not the actual fuel burn. I believe the fuel computer is showing TOTAL fuel burn on both the left and right. Also noticed that after setting the fuel load to full tanks (206gal), it never subtracted from the total.

However, as far as I can determine, the aircraft fuel gauges are showing accurate totals based on expected fuel burn rates.

Like Aerosoft did with the Twin Otter? At least they call it Beta. BTW. although still in Beta, i like the 414 better than any aircraft I have bought so far (and I almost got them all).

Strange, because I got an instant reply on my issue. Even stranger as the aircraft has been released for only 3 days now.

It’s been in beta for only three days…
In fact, it literally says its still in a beta…
This plane…even in beta mode…is still probably one of the best GA planes out there. Even PMDG DC6, Kodiak, Just Flight Arrows etc still have bugs.
The CRJ has bugs as well and its been “released” for over a year.

Give it time. This isn’t like the EMB-110 that was released a year ago as a heaping mess.

The 414 has certainly overtaken most out there.
The 310 will as well.

Waiting for 5 days? The plane wasn’t even released for beta until like hardly 3 days ago…

It’s a BETA build as clearly stated for the hundredth time on here.
Give the developer time.
The fixes will be here soon.

By far this plane is better than anything else out there. Even the “top” devs had their bugs and guess what..a lot of them still do. DC6, Kodiak, JF Arrows…CRJ…a ton of them…at least FlySimWare will fix it.

Same here - I recommend using the GNT 750 mod and all AP issues are gone

I have a question regarding climbing: For reasons unknown I am almost unable to make it climb to 12’000 feet. It feels really underpowered. Can someone try out? Maybe I’m missing out on something - otoh throttle is full open and tank is “only” at 55%.

Also, at 11’000 she barely makes 100 kts… EGT is very low (12 - lowest on scale).

When I bring her down around 7000 ft all is ok again. It must be me - just - what am I missing`?

Same here, but I have only done two flights and I guess there’s something I haven’t done right. Would love to find out what!

Do you do something “different” or “specific” when climing? And - how high do you go? How fast is she at your ceiling altitude? Can you be a bit more specific
