Flysimware Cessna 414A

What makes you think that? The autopilot has been individually programmed my the developers, and it is not quite finished as I read it.

Fair enough, but I bet we’re not going to get custom avionics.

What custom avionics would you be wanting? There are not many different units to choose from that would suit. I happen to think this aircraft has quite a few custom instruments here and there that folks may of not seen before so I think that’s what makes it a little different. As has already been mentioned the modern AP is totally new. One thought I did have is they should ditch the old style altitude selector when using a panel with the modern AP.

This aircraft begs for hand flying imo. It’s also overwhelmingly stable on approaches and landings. Kinda like the opposite calm introvert brother of the obnoxious Kodiak (stability wise during landing) :stuck_out_tongue:

Not really a comparison since they’re two totally different birds and not bashing the Kodiak by any means, i love the Kodiak.

I’m just looking at all the brilliant aircraft in DCS where everything is custom and you have to spend days trying to learn the individual avionics systems in each aircraft. I haven’t seen that kind of dedication among the developers of third party aircraft in MSFS and it just makes me a little sad. I’m not specifically hating on the 414.

I’m an engineer and learning different systems in the modules is one of the main reasons I buy them. That’s why it’s disappointing to see another GTN750, GNS530, G1000 etc. Most of the times when you look at videos of real GA aircraft they don’t exclusively have these standard Garmin setups.

I really don’t get this wild child feel when I’m flying the Kodiak. If anything I would say the take-off is more of an event than the landing probably because of the huge engine power. Once trimmed out too it’s easy to forget you are not on autopilot when hand flying. I’m glad to hear this one stays where it’s pointed I’m on the brink of picking it up.

This helps explain the expectation. Military aircraft development is at the tax payers expense and generally has a massive budget and custom ideal avionic solutions. In the GA world no such luxuries are had and therefore they generally fit available and off the shelf kit and this is why many aircraft of the same era have similar/same equipment. Just look in the real world today and it’s probably even more generic than back in the 70’s and 80’s where Garmin has it almost to themselves. The Retrofit market is where the devs can get a little more creative if they choose. I take the point though I think we would all like to see something a bit different now and again.

The only planes to have given me that feeling were the RAZBAM Fairchild Metroliner SA227-BC and Majestic Q400. Absolute challenging nervous butterflies when landing both of them every time.
I hope they make it to MSFS one day.

Obnoxious in this case was not meant to be a wild child 100% of the time. The Kodiak is indeed very stable after trimming. But when you fly the C 414, you’ll remember my comment and know exactly what i meant by that.

Anyway, just rambling here, i love both planes. And i know the in-n-outs of the Kodiak so well to the point where it’s impossible for me to bash it even if i try to. I love it.

Unmap the offending switch(es) for the battery and alternator. It is the switch furthest to the right on the Bravo. Following some excellent video tutorials (look them up on YouTube) I created some basic profiles for each aircraft type for the Alpha and the Bravo, which I then tailor for specific aircraft.

I just removed all the power related mappings for now. The reason I keep avoiding the multiple profiles thing is that so many planes change so much. Like this issue might be fixed next week, and msfs’ menu is juuust clunky enough to make me definitely not want to have to switch Alpha profiles depending on which plane I’m using.

I love it too. I hope I love the 414 as much.

Just wish controller profiles were saved and recalled automatically on a per aircraft basis then we wouldn’t need to worry too much about this.

This times 1 million… It’s 2022… Like what are we even doing? The saddest part is that even a novice programmer and a few hours could get this done. :100:

I totally agree on Asobo’s proficiency in UI design. They really need to invest in a pro who understands UI from the user’s perspective and is still up to date in the latest concepts.

My bank just redesigned their website, and it’s sooooo bad I’m considering switching banks. It’s unusable now. UI is sooo important.

How do I activate the option for the glass panels. I selected the variant with the 750 GPS, but the screens are just black. Do I have to install the 750 separately? If so, where?

Follow the instructions that @joeaudacious provided in the link.

The GTN750 lives in your community folder, and is available for a wide number of aircraft. There is even an option to use WTT code for some aircraft… it’s all explained on the webpage for the software.

Happy Landings!

Flysimware have done a great job on this & it’s possibly my new favourite GA aircraft in the sim. Really glad they’ve done a thorough & working checklist (unlike some other companies). So straight from the off it came across how much detail & care they’ve put into this & happily that extends to all area’s making for a really enjoyable experience.

A few pictures from a couple hours around the west coast yesterday & about to go continue.

managed a nice flight from UK into Lyon.

Now however, as soon as I disconnect GPU after a start up I lose all electrical power.
