I had to search the manual to figure out how to bring the tablet back. There’s a click spot on the window beside where the tablet would be
You can only choose the GPS before flight in the menu where you choose your livery. There is a choice for each livery between the 3 variants. One you are in your aircraft you cannot change your choice anymore.
Not bad although the exterior sounds a bit muffled I’ll still pick it up when I get home.
Hmmm that’s a bummer to hear. Hopefully its reported and fixed.
Did you report it in AVSIM forums? They have a section there.
Really nice aircraft! My only complaints so far being:
Startup seems quite simplified? The checklist is just tells you to set mixtures and start. I would have thought these engines would be a little more complicated to start than a 152. Why is it so few devs care about a good/realistic startup procedure?
I was playing around with the RPM levers and managed to kill all engine sounds. Everything was working as normal but no sounds from the engines at all. Further playing around with them brings the sound back. I was being quite aggressive and throwing them about so probably not a common issue.
Other than that (as always with any flight sim addon, there are inevitable problems on launch which I still can’t accept as the ‘norm’) she is a beauty. For me the sounds are great - a really nice idle rumble and the engines sound really meaty. Will do some more flights and report any other problems.
Hi, regarding the engine start. This plane has simple aircraft engines, they are as easy to start as in a c152. They are not tooo different from car engines. You cannot compare this to radial engines or turboprop jet engines. Difficulties in starting the engines are most likely only occur during very cold weather.
Kind Regards
I dispute the fact that a c152 is always easy to start.
oooh yes… it can take half an hour in winter
Cessna 414A compared to Cessna C337
Hey guys, anyone out there that has both of these planes for a comparison? My current GA plane of choice is the C337. Absolutely love the push/pull twin configuration and just love flying the plane.
However, I’m looking at this new 414A and it really looks nice! So, I’m trying to decide whether to pick it up, or if I’ll just end up with another plane that is pretty much feels like I’m just flying a slightly different looking 337
Any thoughts? Thanks!
Especially if the battery has gone flat and you’ve got to give it a prop start… “CLEAR!”
Is anyone else having issues with LOC and GS capturing when in APR mode?
When APR mode is engaged, LOC and GS are armed, but the ILS isn’t captured. Frequencies are set correctly, the HSI needle is set to the correct course, and the GTN750 is in VOR mode.
GS capture works for RNAV approaches (technically GP capture), but not on ILSes.
Hi, I know it may be to early - but does anyone have any idea how to map the Logitech panels with spad.next for this aircraft? Especially the autopilot?
@Lerxtwood I have both and, so far, with just an hour’s flying time with it, I’d say the two airplanes feel very different to me.
Thanks @tallyshark! That’s the push I needed. Dusting off my credit card…
Haven’t bought it yet, but watching a stream where the tablet just ran out of battery - how does one charge it?
Same here, tried this morning LLBG-LCPH and couldn’t catch the ILS. Had to do it manually.
Aircraft is brilliant, few bugs here and there but I guess all will be sorted out once it’s out of beta.
My impressions…(former two engine pilot in RL)
Promising product but…First i didn’t know it was a beta, the website isn’t clear about that. So i guess we are betatesters now. Second, and that disappoints me, is that the manifold pressure isn’t decreasing with altitude gain (and also not increasing at altitude loss) and pushing the props full forward on final isn’t doing anything to the RPM, the RPM increases only as soon as you give more power. The prop RPM should increase pushing the props full forward with the same amount of manifold pressure. Throttle is not in idle when i do this, i have a reasonable amount of power set and still the RPM keeps 2.300 RPM in stead of going up. The GNS750 XI is causing many stutters when switched on (i have a 3090 videocard and no stutters in other situations), the moment you switch off the GNS750 XI the stutters are gone. The GNS750 PMS is working without stutters. Aircraft flies nicely, mixture control is not okay, sounds are quite good.
I have been a big fan of FSW’s P3D aircraft (the MU2, Lear, and the Falcon), they are some of my most-flown aircraft of all time, so I was persistent in my attempts to download this one last night. I was able to download it after a few attempts. I was concerned that I may have triggered multiple purchases because I got an error 500 and had to refresh the checkout page after clicking the purchase button…thankfully that wasn’t the case. I imagine that demand for the 414 will persist tonight and this weekend so hopefully they can find a way to handle it.
I am happy with the 414 but not completely blown away. I think it will be an awesome aircraft as it evolves, as was the case with FSW’s P3D aircraft. I did about 30 mins of hand flying and checked out all the different liveries. Didn’t mess with the AP or avionics much. I was hoping the VOR/DME RNAV worked…it doesn’t, you can only use it to tune the NAV2 radio. I am going to get the TDS GTN tonight, as I think that will really make this aircraft shine.
Speaking of shine, I like the texturing and materials. The poly count of the model seems to be a good compromise for visuals and performance. I understand that the exterior paint wasn’t made to be super glossy, but I think it looks realistic the way it is. Not crazy about the way the spinning prop effects look from the front…they are a bit busy. I use legacy manipulator mode and the switch directions are reversed when using the mouse wheel.
Sounds: I see the effort that was made for the atmospheric sounds (switches etc.). They sound really good. However, the engine sounds aren’t to my taste. Unless major changes are made to the engine sound, I will probably end up making a legacy sound pack.
I wasn’t trying hard to look for gripes in the flight dynamics, but one thing that stuck out is that you can’t check the prop governors on the ground. Even at full throttle, pulling the prop levers back does nothing until you are at flying speed (they will feather though).
Wait with the TDS GTN ! You can not use it stutterfree in this aircraft, the PMS GTN you can though.
Is that unique to the 414 or does it cause stutters in general? I have the JF Arrows and would be hoping to use the TDS with those too.
