Focus Mode only working for 1 flight, sim restart required

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

I want to use the ‘focus mode’ in cockpit view and have bound it to a key on the Flightstick.

When I load the first flight after starting the sim, it works fine. I can move the cockpit-camera in freelook and zoom into any instrument by clicking the key for which I configured the key-binding.

But: as soon as I leave the flight, start a new one, mission or whatever, focus mode is working no more.
Tried with several planes and flight-types (mission, lesson, freeflight), all the same.
Even creating a fresh keybind and changing the controller preset doesn’t help.
Only thing that halps is terminating the sim and restart - it will work again just for one flight.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Every time the sim loads.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. bind any control or key to ‘toggle cockpit focus mode’
  2. start any flight (focus mode working)
  3. leave the flight and start a new one
  4. focus mode will no longer work
  5. restart the sim
  6. focus mode will work again (for just one flight)

I have experienced the same thing

ive discovered a temporary workaround for this a couple weeks ago if u go to the camera settings after starting a flight after the initial one that works, the global settings… the first 5 on top, if u change each one and return it to its initial settings, it should work properly for that session. after waiting nearly 2 years for them to fix the dx12 texture bug, i have 0 hope this will be fixed anytime soon or if ever.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
The FOCUS mode under “Zoom Function” is not persistent between flights. When enabled in the options menu, restarting a flight will revert it to manual.

Note that this function is named differently in the Quick Access Camera options menu: “Zoom type” with the options: Auto and Manual, and it’s set to Manual by default…Which is a big hint I think, because “Auto” corresponds with the behavior of the Focus mode.

I use this function because I control every (rotary)knob in the cockpit with my mouse wheel and I don’t want to accidentally zoom in/out while controlling the knobs in the cockpit as I’m also using headtracking.

This is a legacy bug in FS2020 and FS2024. In both simulators this behavior is observed and 100% reproducible.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
The issue persists with an empty community folder.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)? It happens every time I restart a flight (or mission/challenge)

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

1.Set “Zoom Function” to " Focus" in Settings/Camera under Global Settings
2.Start a flight (get in cockpit) and observe that Right Click zooms the view (and mouse wheel zooming is not functioning as it should)
3.Press ESC and select “Restart” to restart the flight.
4. Get in the cockpit and observe that Right Click no longer zooms the view and that the mouse wheel is now zooming in and out, even though in the Options menu, the zoom function is still set to Focus mode.

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.
