For all who have a problem popping out a G1000 Screen Window

I was struggling a while with this, after I tried to pop out the G1000 PFD of the 2024 default C172 Cargo to show it on another screen.
This was successfull using a 2nd PC monitor but became tricky on a tablet, which was connected as a third display using spacedesk.

To let the windows taskbar disappear, I pressed Alt + ENTER while the popout panel was in focus.

Playing around showed some issues with those panels in fullscreen. You can not reach them with Alt+Tab, You just can set the focus on them by mouse to usr again Alt+ENTER.

It also is a problem, when the monitor does not exist any longer the next time You start MSFS.
Or You use a different PC…

So I did. Some days later I tried to popout the PFD on another PC.
Nothing happened, when I press AltGr and click with the (+) on the G1000 PFD.
The MFD worked fine.
I tried Alt+Tab for the main screen, restart the sim… different things.
The I read that somebody was lucky to change the main monitor into portrait mode. But the popout did not appear somewhere.

I started NirSoft’s MultiMonitorTool to analyze, which windows were present.
I never found a “AS1000_PFD” entry after clicking on the PFD while holding AltGr.
When I popout the MFD, it works fine and produces a window called “AS1000_MFD” which I can see in MMT.

Then I tried Popout Panel Manager.
At first I had the wrong version which only works with MSFS 2020.

I learned how to use it and made two panels. One PFD, one MFD.
when I used the popout function, it struggeled with the PFD. It tried to popout something, but did not find the popout window and gaves an error.
Even the “close all popouts” function does not reset the missing, hidden PFD popout.

Then I had an idea, which finally was

THE SOLUTION:

So far I tried all of this with the default C172. Then I had the idea, to test it with the Bonanza G36, which also has the Garmin G1000 and I never tried to popout their screens.
I did not try it manually, but just used the popout-button of Popout Panel Manager with the profile that was created for the C172.
And it worked. I had two different poppedout G1000 Screens!
I closed those screens (sorry, I can’t remember, if I used the ‘X’ of the windows or the function of PPM).

Then I started the C172 G1000 and used again Popout Panel Maager’s one-click function.
And it worked again with the Cessna!

So I finally got back the PFD popout.

I just wanted to share this method for all those, who struggle with the same problem. It might work also the other way, when a G1000 popout of the Bonanza gets “lost” or another’s plane with G1000 -and then getit back using the Cessna.

Asobo really should build in a reset function for the popout windows. It was impossible tho get the popout window back without thrid-party tools!

Glad you figured it out, POPM is certainly the way to go.

This issue is well documented on the forum along with the fix if you search.

• Set the sim to “Full Screen”
• Load to the airport
• Pop-out the screen you wish
• Press ALT+ENTER to go to “Windowed” mode, NOTE: do not press anything else or move your mouse
• Press ALT+ENTER again
This should bring the pop-out screen back to your screen, in front of the main window.

I know this thread, but it did not work for me.

Right now there’s nothing that has overcome the problem of the dramatic (unacceptable) framerate loss when windows are popped out. That needs to be resolved at the core level and can only be dome by MS/Asobo. Until that’s done, unless you have a system that is absolutely top end (the best of everything) you’ll just get a horrible slide show

Not particularly true (the slide show portion).

FPS loss on pop out is 100% accurate but it can be mitigated. Mainly by turning off vSync.
