For those with bad looking graphics and many bugs on MSFS 2024 this is why

If your like me and have extreme bad bugs and graphics issues, this is why.

A lot of old MSFS 2020 stuff you own from the Marketplace got added and it automaticly gets set enabled and set to stream, we have no way to turn this off so what happens is you end up with old stuff that looks bad now, like the zinertek enhanced airport graphics it looks bad now in 2024 overriding the beautifull airport graphics from the sim, also static aicraft pack i have it now overwrites all aircraft at all airports making even careers terrible to do because you end up parking inside other aircraft, also airports if you like me and have like 2 or 3 of the same airport from 2020 because you like 1 creators videos of the airport then 1 you already had then now you have them all active at the same time all overlapping each other. Traffic same story, basicly all the old scenery packs you had are now overriding the beauty of the new sim. I send a cry for help to Jorg that hopefully gets answered and that we hopefully really fast get an option to turn things off we don’t want in our sim. But yeah if you have bad graphics and many bugs then this is the reason why.

That’s a pretty good point actually. I was just talking to my buddy about this earlier. If we are streaming things now and have no way to disable them, what happens when our externally bought add-on sceneries are updated for 2024 and we install them?

For example, I own a 3rd party version of LAX, Seattle, London Heathrow, San francisco, JFK, etc. Is there a system in place for the sim to realize we have those 3rd party airports installed and disable the handcrafted airports that are in the city/world updates? or will they just render in overlayed with our third party sceneries? That’s something that I cant recall a member of their team ever talking about.

Very Good point @patrickb1973

Yup they are being redered over each other, i have 3 different versions of the same airport rendered on top of each other, the original default game 1 and 2 i had bought for 2020 from the marketplace. Atleast in 2020 we could choose what to install and what not right now in the new one there is no way to disable them. They need to fix this fast because it will just downgrade the sims this way, also career missions cant be done with all the old 2020 airports so entire missions are gone because of that

Looks like they never test MSFS 2024 in real life scenarios. Everything is streaming, overloaded cache, buggy controllers, mandatory walk around, etc.
Maybe on the paper it looks excellent. But in reality it is bag of wrong decisions and bugs.

It’s been 1 day. Maybe give it a chance. When it’s working, it’s amazing. They will get the bugs worked out.

Well, that’s really great and all, but some of us can’t even play the game whatsoever. For example, I can’t play the game without crashing ever 5 minutes due to some UI bug. I click one submenu or menu in general, the game crashes. As sad as this is, it’s a hot pile of cr*p. Period. This was a disaster. I’m sure the game will be amazing, but right now it’s horrid.

Microsoft / Asobo pick this up and give us an option to disable and enable things we bought for 2020 it is a giant bug fest because of old content being forcefully streamed to us. I want to enjoy the sim bug free and only enable stuff I can test if it works.

I am currently on Xbox Series X and wish for the option to disable the add ons that are showing as MSFS2020 - I will keep the planes but everything else I am ready to disable.

I even went to the extent of removing them from 2020 to see if that would have it update to 2024 but no changes found.

I did however find that after doing this that the settings for controllers do not save and that every time I load in I have to reconfigure my Thrustmaster HOTAS and mouse.

Thank you MSFS and Asobo for any assistance in the issues.

I have never and will not ever buy anything from the store that I cannot control myself. Any 3rd party add-on I buy I install separately so I can control what is installed.

I believe we’re stuck like this until the Marketplace is enabled. It’s unfortunate, especially since most of the things I bought early on in MSFS 2020 has been uninstalled for years, yet it’s automatically streamed in MSFS 2024.

If that is the case, another week an a half perhaps? I seem to recall that they delayed MP opening by 2 weeks.

this is crazy. the main reason for the issues is they didnt release the marketplace. it was confirmed weeks back there will be a download option in my library but its not there right now i think due to marketplace not enabled.
but i never thought of that issue where you have addon sceneries for multiple airports or places, i have several 2020 addon sceneries i use sometimes or never and have them switched off.

One of the things I was looking forward to was seeing their new PG, scenery, etc free of all the add ons I bought and have uninstalled in 2020. Oh well!

i just tried with aerosoft eddf and i have the premium deluxe version so there should be the asobo enhanced eddf… I can only see aerosoft eddf and no overlappin (but pretty bad fps) I do not own marketplace scenery, only external 3rd party bought stuff but I still get very bad graphics due to “limited bandwith” sometimes

One thing I dont get at all, in some places. where I had world updates installed in msfs2020, PG looks absolutely awful (trees especially) then in other places where I did not have any world update installed, PG looks very good.

That actually brings up another question I haven’t heard anything about. We can’t currently disable them, but is there a reason to use the world and city updates from 20 in 24? You’d think any enhancements they brought for 20 would be default in the new sim, rendering them unnecessary and incompatible.

This would explain the double parked planes at many airports, seems to have streamed my lvfr static pack from 2020. Which then raises another question, I haven’t seen any liveries on planes, only from my lvfr pack, KLM for example at Schiphol, the moving traffic is in the generic colours.

I would hazard a guess it’s hand-crafted airports which are there from world packs, not the surrounding scenery. I may be wrong, but I recollect looking at the My Library and it was only airports when you expand the dropdown

Why TF would they not just ask you when you first load in if you want to import all your FS2020 items, or if you’d rather select them to add yourself later?

And then when they do go ahead and just add them automatically, even though they might completely %$#@ the visuals (like scenery packs seem to be doing), they give you no way of disabling them?!. Big brain design choices right there…wtf Asobo? This in a $200 product??

Edit: While I believe in calling out BS like above, I also believe in giving credit where it’s due. Having now gone to some other locations where I don’t have FS2020 3rd party scenery, I have to say the sim can look absolutely beautiful when it’s all running correctly. And from what I’ve seen of the career mode so far it looks like a great addition. If you can get on top of the capacity issues, I’m actually excited at how good this sim can be.

This has been a terrible launch as you’re more than aware. You’ve made some good progress with stability over the last day or so, but pls also ensure we get a quick resolution to the problem raised in this thread - Provide us the option to disable add-ons we don’t want to use.
